영문 초록

In order to estimate the offshore wind resource around Jeju Island, the wind data from automatic weather system of meteorological observatories were analyzed statistically. The four small islets around Jeju Island and a region of inland were selected for this study. The power law was applied to extrapolate from wind data at 10m height to those at 50m height. The average wind speed, the wind power density and the wind rose for three years were clarified for the sites. The results show that the sea around Marado and Udo sites may be the best place to construct an offshore wind farm, because they have high wind speeds and their prevailing wind directions are identified obviously. Also Halla mountain of Jeju island may have an effect on the wind speed and the wind direction on Jigwido site which may be located in the wake of Halla mountain.
