국문 초록

이 글은 나카무라 쇼지로[中村庄次郞]가 초량왜관에서 근무하던 1876년에 필사한 한국어 학습 교재「유년공부」에 주목하였다. 쇼지로는 조선에 선발된 통역관인데, 그는 초량왜관에서 한국어 학습을 위한 6편의 문학 작품을 필사한다.「유년공부」는 그 중의 하나다. 본래「유년공부」는 아메노모리 호슈[雨森芳洲]가 1705년에 편찬한 텍스트인데, 1876년에 쇼지로가 이 텍스트 를 필사하였다. 호슈의 책은 현재까지 확인되지 않으니, 아직까지는 이 책이 유일본인 셈이다. 그러니「유년공부」는 19세기에 필사되었지만, 17세기 말 조선의 풍경을 담은 책이라 할 수 있다. 호슈는 “목숨을 5년쯤 단축하는 일이 있더라도 반드시 이루리라”는 각오로 이 책을 썼다. 호슈가 조선의 책을 짓는 행위는 단순한 오락이나 일탈이 아니었다. 외교 철학이라 내세웠던 성신외교(誠信外交)의 전제가 조선인의 인정(人情)과 사세(事勢), 즉 조선의 풍속과 관습을 이해하는 데서부터 비롯되니, 조선의 풍경을 가장 잘 반영된 설화를 통해 ‘문화 교육’을 이루겠다는 의무에서 비롯된 치열한 행위였다.「유년공부」에는 총 56편의 작품이 실려 있다. 56편 중 5편은 향약(鄕藥) 관련 정보니, 순수한 이야기는 총 51편이다. 51편 중 성(性) 관련 소화는 26편, 치우담(癡愚談)과 지략담(智略 談)이 각각 11여 편, 단순 소화는 4편이다. 「유년공부」는 크게 세 가지 특성을 갖는다. 첫째, 형식적으로 구술 방식을 취한 점. 둘째, 내용적으로 성(性) 이야기를 포함한 조선의 인정물태를 다룬 작품이 많다는 점. 셋째, 패설사적 측면에서 패설의 흐름과 변이 양상에 대한 실마리를 제공한다는 점 등이 그러하다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on YunyeonGongbu (酉年工夫), a textbook for learning Korean which was transcribed by Nakamura Shojiro in 1876 while he was working at Choryang Waegwan. Shojiro was an official interpreter selected for Chosun, and when he was staying in Waegwan, he transcribed six pieces of literary works to learn Korean. YunyeoGongbu is one of them, and it was what was compiled by Amenomori Hoshu in 1705 and then again transcribed by Shojiro. Hoshu wrote this book with a resolution “to complete it for sure even if it might shorten his life about five years or so”. To Hoshu, the act of writing books of Chosun was never a mere play. It was indeed a textbook for some sort of ‘culture education’ to take a glance at the culture of Chosun people. It was because the fact that ‘he could learn the culture of Chosun through stories’ never changed. YunyeonGongbu contains total 56 pieces of works. Among the 56 pieces, 5 pieces from episodes 33 to 37 deal with information about Hyangyak 鄕藥), so pure stories are total 51 pieces. Out of the 51 pieces, 26 episodes deal with sex, 11 are about a foolish person and about a witty person respectively, and 4 are simple episodes. Regarding the works’ internal factors aside from external factors, for example, the bibliography of the text or distribution,「YunyeonGongbu」involves crucial messages. It is associated with the historical development of stories in Korea, and the phenomena can be largely summed up as three factors. First, they take the form of verbal statement. Second, in terms of contents, many of the works deal with human lives and social circumstances such as sexual stories. Third, regarding the history of stories, they provide clues about the trends or changes of stories.
