국문 초록

전시와 연구 위주였던 박물관은 최근 공공을 위한 교육과 집단기억의 생성 장소로 자리매김하 고 있다. 현장체험과 구성주의적 접근에 따른 교육이 강조되면서 박물관은 학교교육과 박물관 전 시 내용이 연계된 다양한 교육프로그램을 제공하며 그 역할을 다하고자 한다. 하지만 학생들이 전 시실의 유물을 관람하고 교육프로그램에 참여함으로써 어떤 역사적 이해를 갖게 되었는지 본격적 으로 살펴본 연구는 미진하다고 볼 수 있다. 본고에서는 학교교육과 관련하여 학생 관람자를 대상 으로 제작된 박물관 교육프로그램이 박물관에서 이루어지는 학생 관람자의 역사 학습에 다양한 방식으로 기여할 것이라는 전제하에, 역사 학습의 목표와 학습 활동을 중심으로 실제 활용되고 있 는 박물관 교육 프로그램의 현황을 분석하였다. 온오프라인을 통해 수집한 다수의 박물관 교육프로그램을 분석한 결과 학생관람자에게 기대되 는 역사 학습 목표와 활동 내용은 개별 유물 관찰과 정보의 습득, 유물과 전시 주제에 대한 탐구, 전 시 의미의 구성과 표현으로 범주화할 수 있다. 각각의 학습 목표에 따른 활동은 유물에 대한 관점, 전시 유형과의 관련성, 박물관 학습을 유도하는 발문 등의 측면에서 차별성을 보였다. 따라서 역사 학습의 가능성을 증대시키려는 노력의 일환으로 박물관 교육프로그램은 전시된 유물을 관찰하고 음미할 수 있는 방법적 지식과 기회를 제공하고, 박물관의 전시 방향과 의도에 대해 능동적이고 적 극적으로 의미를 부여하고 이야기를 구성하는 활동을 제공할 필요가 있다. 또한 박물관 교육프로 그램에 참여한 학생관람자의 경험에 천착한 관람자연구와 박물관 교육프로그램을 평가하는 후속 연구에 대한 필요성이 제기된다.

영문 초록

Recent studies have reported that the focus of museums has shifted from exhibition and research to public education and collective consciousness. On-site education as well as interactive learning also encourage museums to provide educational programs relating school curricula and exhibitions. However, it has not been much known yet about student visitors’ learning itself in the context of museum environment. Given educational programs via museums having positive contributions to students’ historical learning, this study analyzes the goals and activities of various educational programs offered by Korean public and private museums. Data collected from on and offline venues include teachers’ guides and worksheets. Educational programs can be categorized in terms of their goals such as observation and information acquisition of each exhibit, inquiry of the themes and representations of exhibits, and finally the reconstruction of exhibition motifs and curatorial suggestions. Educational activities in each category reveal the relevance to exhibition types and distinctive questions which guide students to engage in exhibits. In order to improve students’ historical learning in museums, educational programs should provide opportunities and methodological perspectives for them to observe and regenerate curatorial ideas and storytelling activities. For further studies, visitor studies and evaluation tools for programs can be suggested.
