국문 초록

본 연구는 노인들의 삶에서 노동의 의미가 그들이 종사하는 노동의 특성과 어떤 관련을 맺고 있는지를 분석한 것이다. 연구대상은 찐빵 마을로 유명한 강원도 횡성군 안흥면에서 손찐빵 노동에 종사하는 60대 이상 여성노인들이다. 12명의 찐빵 만드는 여성노인들에게서 소규모표적집단조사(small focus group interview)으로 자료를 수집하였으며, 내용분석(content analysis) 방법을 활용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 분석결과 손찐빵 노동시장 환경은 수요와 공급 측면, 모두에서 구조적으로 유동성과 안정성을 가지고 있었으며, 노동과정은 비분업적이고 비소외적인 특성을 가지고 있었다. 손찐빵 노인들은 일이 경제적 도움을 주고, 주체적이게 해 주며, 일상을 행복하게 하는 원천일 뿐만 아니라, 건강이 허락하는 한 계속 하고 싶은 것, 본인 사정에 따라 일정을 조정할 수 있는 것, 함께 하는 사람과 좋은 관계를 맺게 해 주는 매개, 완제품을 만들어내는 뿌듯함을 맛보게 하는 것으로서 특별한 의미를 부여하였다. 이러한 손찐빵 노동에 대한 특별한 의미는 노동시장의 노동력 수급환경 및 손찐빵 노동의 과정적 특징과 밀접히 관련되어 있음을 발견할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study tried to analyze the major characteristics of the elderly’s work and their associations with the meaning of the work. The study conducted the small focus group interview with 12 women over sixties who are making the Korean traditional ‘red-bean steamed bread(SON JJIN PPANG)’ at Anheung-Meon in Gangwon-Do. The study used the subject-analysis method to analyze collected data. Findings show that the Anheung labor market environment has its flexibility and stability in terms of the demand and supply in labor. The process of labor also has its distinct characteristics such as non- segmentalization and non-isolation. The study subjects regarded their work as the important tool for economic security, for their subjectivity, and for their happiness. Moreover, they bestowed a very positive meanings to their work that they can work as long as they are healthy, reconciliate the work schedule according to their own reason, have a good relationship with their peers, and have a pride in their work. These kinds of special meanings attached with their work are associated with the demand and supply situation in labor market and the process of making the bread.
