진리를 증언하는 ‘신앙 감각(Sensus Fidei)’과 ‘한(恨)’의 종교 체험

국문 초록

제2차 바티칸 공의회는 “진리의 성령에 의해 일깨워지고 양육된”(『교회헌장』, 12항) 신앙 감각이 신자들이 받은 그리스도의 예언자 직무에 참여하는 일과 밀접한 관련이 있음을 강조하였다. 그리스도의 예언자 직무는 삶 속에서 말없는 ‘증언(martyria)’을 통해 그 성격이 드러난다. ‘신앙 감각’은 믿음이 지향하는 하느님을 증언함으로써, 다른 이에게 하느님 현존을 생생하게 체험하게 해주고, 믿을 수 있도록 전하며, 동시에 그들이 하느님의 현실에 다가설 수 있게 해주는 신앙 전달의 중요한 원리이므로, 그리스도인의 예언자 직무의 은사에 속한다. ‘증인이 된다는 것’은 자신의 실존적 근거인 하느님과의 만남을 거룩한 신비이자 피할 수 없는 현실로 받아들이고, 이를 삶으로 증언하는 것을 말한다. 이러한 삶의 증언은 인간을 삶의 새로운 전망으로 이끌어주는 ‘종교체험에서 나온다. 곧, 주체적인 인간의 증언력은 자신을 지탱해주는 무한한 실재에 대한 절대적 신뢰에서 나오지만, 신앙 행위를 일으키는 힘은 영원하신 하느님의 은사이다. 그리스도인의 신앙 감각이 하느님을 증언하는 예언자적 은사이고, 살아 있는 증언의 원리라면, 신앙 감각이 증언하고자 하는 내용은 하느님 자신이다. 신앙 감각은 이 단순한 진리를 증언하는 능력이면서도, 세상에 밝혀진 ‘하느님의 진리’에 전적으로 참여하는 것이고, 동시에 증언하는 이를 보편적인 진리 앞에 서게 하며, 그를 근본적이고 철저한 실존적 헌신과 전적인 참여로 이끈다. 따라서 이 증언은 대부분 개인과 공동체의 자서전전 고백을 통해 나타나는 구체적이고 현실적인 삶의 실재로 드러난다. 신앙 감각의 표현인 증언은 특별히 작고 보잘 것 없는 겸손한 이들의 구체적인 고통의 체험과 이들이 삶으로 보여주는 권위와 지혜이다. ‘고통의 기억’(memoria passionis)을 간직한 겸손한 하느님 백성은 기억된 고통의 역사를 통해 현실을 되돌아보고, 자신의 현실을 위험에 빠뜨릴 수도 있는 고통의 기억을 이야기(narrativ)하면서 참된 삶의 가치를 증언한다. 한국의 종교 역사에서 발견되는 무속적 종교심, 곧 샤머니즘(shamanism) 정신으로 각인된 한국의 민간신심은 인생을 지탱해주는 참된 진리를 삶으로 증언해온 백성의 역사에 뿌리를 두고 있다고 본다. 민간 신심에 뿌리를 내린 한국의 백성들은 삶의 고통의 근거들을 직관적으로 알아내고, 고통을 현실적이고 감각적으로 감지해내는 ‘본능’을 지니고 있으며, 이들은 자신들의 고통이 우주적 질서와 창조된 세상이 보여주는 하나의 거대하고 조화로운 질서를 거스르는 구체적이고도 실질적인 무질서와 모순으로부터 기인한다는 점을 본능으로 느끼며 살아왔다. 특히 한국의 민간 신심은 고통이 우주적 하늘의 질서에 반하는 인간의 반항의지의 결과이며, 인간의 행복과 불행은 사람이 하늘의 뜻 혹은 우주의 지고한 질서에 따라 살았느냐에 달려 있음을 지혜로 깨달아왔다. 신학이 말없이 침묵하는 하느님 백성의 증언의 신학적 가치와 이들의 체험의 권위를 올바르게 인정하기 위해서는 서구 사상에서는 소외되어온, ‘직관’과 ‘본능’ 내지, ‘감정’과 ‘공감’(empathy) 능력을 민간 신심에서 새롭게 발견하고, 이들 원초적 사유방식이 추구하는 영원한 것, 무한한 것, 곧, 총체적 구원과 치유를 향한 갈망을 신학적 언어로 표현해낼 수 있어야 한다. 이런 점에서 한국인의 ‘한’(恨)은 한국의 민간 신심의 뿌리이자, 원리이며, 한 맺힌 인생을 살아온 겸손한 하느님 백성들이 자신들의 고통을 감내하고, 인간 운명을 존재의 근원에 맡기면서, 희망의 삶을 살아갈 수 있게 하는 조화와 화해의 원리이기도 하다. 따라서 토착화 신학의 관점에서 본다면, 한국인의 한은 그리스도교 신앙의 중심인 십자가의 신비를 밝혀내고, 십자가 죽음의 고통을 통한 부활 신앙을 추구하는 그리스도교 신앙을 한국의 민간신심에서 구체적 신학의 맥락을 찾아내는 해석학적 열쇠가 되리라 생각한다.

영문 초록

The 2nd Vatican Council emphasized that ‘Sensus Fidei’, “awakens and cultivated by Spirit of Truth” (The Church Constitution Chap. 12), has close relation with the faithful’s participation in Christ’s prophetic duty. Christ’s prophetic duty is revealed by speechless ‘martyria’ in actual life. ‘Sensus Fidei’ is the important principal of delivering faith, which testifies God, let other people experience the reality of God vividly, let deliver the message to believe, and at the same time to approach the reality of God. So, ‘Sensus Fidei’ is part of charisma of Christian’s prophetic duty. ‘To be a witness’ means take the acquaintance with God as to holy mystery and inevitable reality and testify by life. This is substantial foundation of them. Such a life of ‘martyria’ comes from the absolute trust on infinite reality which leads to a new vision. But the driving force of faith is charisma coming from everlasting God. If Christian’s ‘Sensus Fidei’ is prophetic charisma to testify God and living principal of ‘martyria’, the content of sensus fidei is God himself. ‘Sensus Fidei’ is the ability to testify this simple truth. It is also to participate to this revealed ‘God’s truth’ completely, to let stand witness in front line of this catholic truth, to lead him to substantial, complete devotion and whole hearted participation. Hence, this ‘martyria’ is revealed as to concrete and real life, which is expressed through personal and community autobiographic confession. The martyria as of ‘Sensus Fidei’s’ expression is the mere and humble people’s concrete experience of passion and authority and wisdom, shown by their lives. The God’s humble people who kept ‘memoria passionis’ reflect their reality through their painful histories, narrate ‘memoria passionis’ which could have fallen their realities into danger and then testify the value of truthful life. Shamanism, founded in Korean religion history, is imprinted in Korean folk belief. This shamanism seems to be rooted from people’s histories, which testified the truth to their lives. Korean people with this folk belief find out instinct those foundations of painful life posses ‘the instinct’ of sensing the pain as real. These people have been lived to feel instinct that their pains came from concrete and real disorder and contradiction against the disobedience to one, immense, harmonious cosmic order and the created world. Especially, Korean folk believed that pains are the result of man’s resistance intention against to cosmic order, they recognized with the wisdom that human’s happiness and unhappiness depend on whether their living is with God’s will or cosmic divine order. To approve that the theological value of God’s people’s speechless ‘martyria’ and the authority of their experience’s authority, it is to find out newly the ability of intuition, instinct, feeling and empathy, which Occidental thinking has excluded, and could express the longing of everlasting, infinite, which is the whole salvation and healing which these thinking’s pursued, to theological expressions. In this point, Korean’s spirit of ‘Han’ is the root and principal of Korean folk belief. It is the harmonious and reconciliation principal of Korean people who have had lives with ‘Han’. They thought that if God’s humble people get over their pains, depend on their fates to substance of being, and then they could have hopeful lives. Hence, seeing with the point of inculturation Korean’s ‘Han’ is the key to find out theoretical stream of Christian faith from revealing the mystery of the Cross, the resurrection faith through the pain of death with Korean folk belief.
