영문 초록

This study analyzed the spatial distribution characteristics of Chinese firms invested in Korea between 1992 and 2015 and the determinants of location of Chinese firms in service industries invested in 2008-2015 by panel data model. As a result of the analysis, 87.6% of the companies that enter Korea are services and 10% are manufacturing. This suggests that, unlike Korean companies entry into China, Chinese companies make market-oriented decisions rather than production-oriented decisions when they enter Korea. Most of the Chinese enterprises mostly concentrated in the metropolitan area including Seoul in the early stage. In the next stage, they were located in the metropolitan area of the province and distributed around the railway. As time passed, the proportion of companies registered in the Seoul metropolitan area declined, indicating that they are located in the provinces. In particular, the number of Chinese companies entering Jeju Island since 2010 has increased sharply due to the policy of attracting foreign tourists to Jeju Island. As a result of the panel analysis on the service industry, the GRDP per capita, the number of population, the number of foreign companies, the number of employees, the number of Chinese residents, the rate of road penetration, the number of foreign tourists have an effect on locational decision by chinese firms. These results show the necessity of local government s investment promotion policy in attracting foreign investment. Therefore, the municipalities need more concrete and differentiated policies to attract foreign investment in revitalizing the urban economy.
