영문 초록

Korea has introduced the differentiated pricing system for surplus milk since October 2002 in order to reduce milk over supply. Under the system, Reference Amount of Milk allocated to farm household functions as a quota. A quota system has brought about market distortion and quota rent, but over the short term, the quota system is believed to contribute to reducing the government s spending and stabilizing farm household income by striking a balance between demand and supply. This study analyzed the economic effects of milk quota system in Korea on production, farm income and government expenditures.
