교사가 인지하는 초등학교 다문화교육 수행 실태에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학교에서 수행되는 다문화교육 수행실태를 파악하여 앞으로 교육현장에서의 체계적이고 효율적인 다문화교육 운영방안을 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위해 대전광역시의 초등학교 다문화담당 교사 15명을 대상으로 심층 면접하여 자료를 분석하였다. 이 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교에서 수행되는 다문화교육사업내용은 견학, 체험, 교과, 연수 등으로 수행되었고 이중 견학과 체험 등 행사위주의 내용이 높은 비율을 차지하였다. 둘째, 다문화교육 담당 교사들은 사업을 계획하고 수행하는 모든 과정을 전문적 교육없이 개인적 역량에 의존하여 수행하고 있었으며, 다문화교육의 주 대상은 다문화가정 학생으로 일반학생을 대상으로 한 통합적 다문화교육은 부재하였다. 셋째, 외국인 자녀와 귀국학생 자녀들의 학교생활의 초기적응을 위해 귀국학급을 운영함으로써 유연성 있는 다문화교육을 수행하고 있었다. 넷째 귀국학급의 프로그램 내용은 교과학습, 한국어교육, 전통문화체험 등으로 구성되고 있으며 담당교사들은 다문화에 관한 전문적 교육없이 교과내용을 기획하고 수행하고 있어 체계적이고 전문적 교육과정 개발이 필요하다고 지적되었다.

영문 초록

This study is to understand the performance reality of multi-cultural education system in the elementary school, and to suggest systematically efficient multi-cultural education in the school. For this purpose, I interviewed fifteen elementary school teachers in Daejeon in charge of multi-culture education in depth. The followings are four results from the study performed. First, the multi-cultural education system implemented in elementary school contains the observation study, field trip, class study as well as training course. Among them the observation study and field trip as an event and activity were more favorite choices. Second, teachers in charge of multi-cultural education were used to designing program and performing all processes on their own without any specialized training. The integrated multi-cultural education aimed at students of multi-culture families was implemented, but it was not the case with general students. Third, by managing returnees class, they were performing flexible multi-culture education for early stage adaptation of children of foreign family and returning children. Fourth, the content of the returnees class program consist of study of subject, Korean education, traditional cultural field trip and etc. And teachers who were in charge of this class were planning and performing content of the class without any professional education, therefore further systematic and professional education process are urgent.
