중도입국 학생의 학교생활 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 중도입국 학생들의 학교생활 모습을 분석하고자 중도입국 학생들이 생활하고 있는 다문화 대안학교 새날학교의 학생들의 생활 모습을 조사 및 분석하였다. 연구 대상은 새날학교 교육과정 운영 계획과 새날학교 중등과정에 있는 35명의 학생, 교장, 교감, 그리고 교사들이었고, 연구방법은 면담과 설문을 병행하였다. 또한 학생들의 정의적 특성과 학업성취도와의 관계를 알아보기 위해 2012학년도 1학기 기말고사의 한국어 점수와 수학점수를 결과변수로 사용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 새날학교는 대안학교 위탁기관 운영지침을 기반으로 학교 교육과정을 운영하고 있으며, 한국어와 수학은 학생들의 수준에 따라 반을 편성 및 운영하고 있었다. 둘째, 출신국가에서 중학교 졸업을 하지 못한 학생이 많았으며, 출신국가 학교에서 학업성취도 수준은 중위권이 많았다. 셋째, 한국어로 진행되는 수업 내용 대부분을 이해하고 있다는 것은 새날학교 교사들이 학생들의 한국어 수준에 적합한 눈높이 교육을 실시한 결과라고 할 수 있다. 넷째, 고등학교 졸업의 필요성을 학생들은 강하게 인식하고 있으나 한국어 수준과 학업성취도 격차로 일반고등학교 진학대신 고등학교 수준의 대안학교 진학을 원하거나 출신국가로 잠시 되돌아가서 고등수준의 교육을 마친 후 다시 한국으로 되돌아오겠다는 의견도 있었다. 끝으로 한국어와 수학 점수는 학생들의 정의적 특성 중에서 사회적 지지와 통계적으로 유의한 관계를 보였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to research and analyze lives of students attending to Saenal School(multicultural school) where unregistered migrant students study. The study targets were curriculum of Saenal School, 35 students who are in the middle class course of Saenal School, principal, vice-principal and teachers. In addition, as the result variable for researching the relationship between students’ definitive properties and student achievement, the scores of Korean Language and Mathematics of the first semester final test were used. The results of this study were as follows. First, Saenal School has run curriculum based on the operation policy of alternative school consignment organization. For Korean Language and Mathematics, the school has operated the class by dividing class by student’s level. Second, there were many students who did not graduate the middle school in their mother countries. For the student achievements in their mother school, they were usually in middle class. Third, the fact that most of students understood the class performed in Korean language meant that the teachers of Saenal School have performed the eye-level education suitable for students’ Korean Language levels. Fourth, students recognized the need of high school graduation strongly. Because of insufficient Korean Language level and student accomplishment, however, some students wanted to enter equal-level alternative school rather than high school or wanted to come back to Korea again after completing the education of high school level in their mother countries. Lastly, the scores of Korean Language and Mathematics showed significant positive correlation with social support among students’ definitive properties.
