영문 초록

This study aims investigating the city-forming process of Mokpo and the effect of urban planning on the process. In achieving the aims, this study divided the city history, into five periods and surveyed the effect of urban planning onto the city in light of three measures of urban development, namely, zoning designation, urban facilities planning and urban development projects. The findings are; 1. The urban development of each period reflected the socio-economic and political contexts of the time. 2. In affecting urban development, the planning of the urban development measures itself is found to do little white implementing them did much. In addition, the combined implementation of more than one of the urban development measures rather than the implementation of a single project is much effective in including and accelerating the development of built-up area.
