남녀청소년의 진로성숙도와 자아개념의 변화 추이 및 종단적 연관성 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구는 시간에 따른 남녀청소년의 진로성숙도 및 자아개념의 변화추이를 파악하고, 종단 매개효과 모형을 토대로 성별과 진로성숙도 및 자아개념의 관계를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 다집단 잠재성장모형 및 평행한 과정의 잠재성장모형을 적용하여 서울교육종단연구의 4개년 자료(2차년도~5차년도)를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 진로성숙도는 네 시점에 걸쳐서 선형으로 변화하는 경향이 나타났으며, 여학생의 진로성숙도는 시간이 경과함에 따라서 점차 증가한 반면, 남학생의 진로성숙도는 점차 감소하는 경향이 나타났다. 반면, 자아개념은 남녀학생 모두 비선형의 변화 궤적이 나타났으며, 중2부터 고1까지는 증가하 는 양상이 나타났으나, 고2 때 급격하게 감소하였으며, 고1까지는 남학생의 자아개념이 여학생보다 높았으나, 고2 때 남녀 모두 유사하게 네 시점 중에서 가장 낮았다. 또한, 종단 매개효과 분석 결과, 학생의 성별 차이가 ‘자아개념의 변화’를 통해서 ‘진로성숙도의 변화’에 통계적으로 유의하게 영향을 미쳤다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과는 중․고등학교에서 학생의 성별차이를 고려한 진로교육 뿐만 아니라, 고등학생들이 성적과 입시에 대한 부담감으로 인해서 자아개념을 잃지 않도록 지원하는 방안이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the trends of career maturity and self-concept of male and female adolescents, and analyzed the relationship between career maturity and self-concept based on longitudinal mediation model. A multiple-group latent growth model and a parallel process latent growth model were applied to the data from the Seoul Education Longitudinal Study. The results showed that female students’ career maturity increased over time, whereas male students’ decreased. Also, self-concept for male students is greater than female until 8th grade, but drop sharply in 9th grade. The results of longitudinal mediation analysis showed that gender difference statistically significantly affected the change of career maturity through the change of self-concept. Thus, the results recommend specific instruction of a particular gender in career education and new plans for high school students’ self-concept education.
