동아시아 지역의 컨테이너 얼라이언스 기항형태 분석

국문 초록

항만수요는 해운의 파생수요이기 때문에 항만 처리량으로 비견되는 항만의 발전은 해운수요에 의해 결정된다. 그러나 전 세계 의 지역별 경제 및 국제무역의 변화와 더불어 컨테이너선사들간 인수합병 및 얼라이언스집단의 변화에 따라 특정항만에 대한 기항형태도 지속적으로 바뀌고 있다. 이에 우리나라항만들에 기항하는 아시아-유럽 및 아시아-북미 주간선항로를 기준으로 한 선사기항형태의 동향 분석이 필요하다. 이러한 주간선 항로의 기항형태를 분석하기 위해 본 연구에서는 2006년 말과 2014년 말의 주요얼라이언스 집단 구성형태와 항로별 서비스수, 기항항만, 기항횟수, 선복량 등을 분석하였다. 본 연구결과 선박과 선사 또는 선사집단의 대형화로 분석대상기간인 8년 동안 선대기항형태가 크게 변화되었으며 특히 아시아-유럽항로에서 홍콩항, 카오슝항 및 일본항만들, 그리고 아시아-북미항로에서 카오슝 및 일본항만들의 중심항수준이 크게 저하되고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 지역별 분석을 통해 주요 동아시아항만들이 아시아-유럽항로 및 아시아-북미항로중 경쟁력이 있는 항로의 유형과 수준이 변화되고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 국내 주요항만들은 선박 및 선사(얼라이언스 집단)의 대형화 추세에 비추어 주간선항로 상에 각 항만의 위치나 역할이 변화되고 있음을 감안한 발전 및 대응전략을 수립해야할 것이다.

영문 초록

The shipping demand determines the development of the port, evaluated by the port throughput, as port demand is a derived demand. However, the alterations of not only the regional economy and international trade but also the mergers and acquisitions between mega container carriers constantly changed the calling patterns for a particular port. A trend analysis of carriers’ calling patterns on the Asia-Europe and Asia-North America trunk routes is required. This paper analyzed the form of major container alliance group, numbers of service per route, calling ports, numbers of calling, calling vessel TEU volume, etc., between 2006 and 2014 to compare calling patterns between these trunk lines. This research found that the carriers’ calling patterns were significantly changed in the period analyzed, due to increase in the size of a ship, a carrier, and an alliance group. In particular, it was confirmed that the hub port level had decreased significantly on the ports of Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Tokyo, Kobe, Nagoya (major Japanese ports) on the Asia-Europe route as well as the ports of Kaohsiung, Tokyo, Kobe, Nagoya on the Asia-North America route. In addition, through regional analysis we confirmed which East Asian ports are competing ports on the Asia-Europe and Asia-North America routes. Therefore, the major domestic ports need to establish development and counter strategies, considering that the position and role of each port has changed on the trunk lines, in light of the large size of vessels and carriers (or alliance groups).
