삼국시대 토기가마를 통해 본 생산·유통 구조

국문 초록

영산강유역 토기가마의 생산과 유통구조는 지역단위별로 차이를 보이고 있다. 초기에는 주거군에서 공방지가 확인되어 분업화가 이루어지고 연질의 자비용기 위주로 제작하여 자급자족하는 소비가 이루어진다. 이후 지역단위가 성장하면서 점차 수요와 공급이 늘어나게 됨에 따라 경질화 되고 기종에서도 다양성을 보인다. 이러한 과정에서 전업적 전문장인집단이 등장하는데 토기가 마는 취락과 별도의 공간에 군집으로 조성된다. 5세기 후반 이후에는 광역적인 세력을 구축하여 분업화된 양상을 보인다. 중심거점은 백제가 영산강유역에 대한 적극적인 개입이 이루어지면서 형성된 것으로 판단된다. 중심거점에는 백제의 영향하에 주변의 하위거점에서 생산된 토기를 비롯한 수공업 제품이 공납의 형태로 집중되는데 상업적 목적이 강한 조계지가 형성되었던 것으로 추정하였다. 거점지에서 생산되었던 제품의 유통은 반경 20～25㎞ 이내에 대부분 소비되었겠지만 백제가 직접 관리한 생산품은 서남해안의 지역단위체를 통해 가야나 왜 등과 같은 정치체와 광역의 유통망을 형성하였던 것으로 추정하였다. 이상과 같이 영산강유역의 토기가마 운영체계는 지역단위의 형성과 통합, 해체를 통해 복합적 이고 다양한 생산체계를 갖추게 되고 백제가 전남 동부지역에 대한 진출이 이루어지는 시기까지 지속되고 석실이 들어온 이후에 점차 사라져 간 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록
