초등 영어과 수업에서 학생의 창의성을 촉진하는 교수 전략 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등 영어과에서 학생의 창의성 신장을 위한 연구들이 교육과정과 관련성이 낮은 창의적 기법이나 교육방법의 제안에 그치고 있다는 문제의식에서 출발하여, 실제 영어과수업 장면에서 학생의 창의성 신장을 돕는 교수 전략을 탐색하고 일상적인 영어과 수업에서 학생들의 창의성을 신장시킬 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 학생의 창의성을 촉진시 키는 수업 활동과 교사의 발화를 추출하여 수업의 흐름에 따른 교수 전략을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 교사들은 수업 도입 단계에서 창의성의 성향적 요소인 자율성, 다양성과 함께 상상력․시각화 요소와 관련되는 수업 전략인 1) 가상의 소재로 수업 열기, 2) 학생 스스로 자신의 출발점 진단하도록 하기 전략을 활용하였다. 수업의 전개 단계에서는 창의성의 인지적 요소인 확산적 사고, 독창성, 논리․분석적 사고와 관련되는 1) 학생의 눈높이에 맞는 과제 제시하기,2) 확장된 언어 사용 유도하기, 3) 언어 규범에 맞는 발화 사용 유도하기, 4) 비판적 언어 사용 돕기 전략을 활용하였다. 수업의 정리 단계에서는 창의성의 자율성, 독창성 요소와 관련되는 1) 학습과정과 내용 반성하게 하기, 2) 독창적으로 활용하게 하기 전략을 활용하였다.

영문 초록

This study has began from acknowledging the problem that existing studies on fostering creativity in elementary English classes has been merely suggesting creative techniques and instruction methods that have low relevance to the elementary curriculum. Hence, the present study explores teaching strategies that help foster creativity during regular elementary English classes. To this end, the study extracted particular class activities and teachers’ discourses that promote creativity in English classes and analyzed the properties of relevant teaching strategies. The results indicated as follows. In the beginning stage, teachers began each class with an imaginary topic and help them recognize their starting points, those strategies were mainly related to affective factors of creativity. In the development stage, teachers gave tasks that were appropriate to the students’ English levels, induced students to increase their divergent production ability and to speak in accordance with the standard, and helped students to use critical language, those strategies were related to cognitive factors of creativity. Then in the concluding stage, teachers instructed students to reflect on their learning and to apply what they have learned in a creative way.
