성 십자가 현양 축일의 기원과 의미

국문 초록

그리스도교 전례와 신앙의 중심은 예수 그리스도의 죽음과 부활을 통해 완성된 파스카 신비이다. 그리고 파스카 신비의 거행의 중심에 언제나 구원의 상징인 십자가가 자리하고 있다. 전례 안에서 십자가는 파스카 신비와의 만남을 더욱 생생하고 확실하게 해 주는 거룩한 표지이다. 성 금요일의 십자가 경배 예식은 십자가의 상징적 의미가 가장 크게 드러나는 자리이다. 4세기 예루살렘의 성 삼일 전례에 기원을 두고 있는 이 예식은 성 십자가 현양 축일의 가장 오래된 예식적 요소이기도 했다. 주님의 십자가의 역사적 발견과 함께 예루살렘의 성지에 세워진 두 성당, 곧 마르티리움(Martyrium)과 아나스타시스(Anastasis)의 봉헌(335)은 십자가와 관계된 예식과 대중적 신심을 촉발시킨 주된 동인이었다. 성 십자가 현양 축일의 기원은 바로 예루살렘의 성당 봉헌 축일(엔체니아)의 둘째 날(9월 14일)에 마르티리움(Martyrium)에서 거행되었던 십자가 경배 예식과 밀접한 관계가 있다. 본고에서는 본래 4세기 예루살렘의 성당 봉헌 축일의 이차적인 예식 요소였던 십자가 경배 예식이 점차 발전되어 7세기에 십자가를 기념하는 독립적인 축일로 제정되기까지의 역사를 살펴볼 것이다. 그리고 성 십자가 현양 축일을 위한 로마 전통의 옛 미사 기도문의 내용을 고찰함으로써 전례 안에서 십자가를 기념하고 현양하는 의미를 되새겨 보고자 한다.

영문 초록

Paschal mystery which has completed through the death of Jesus Christ and his resurrection is the heart of Christianity liturgy and faith. Always there is the Holy Cross, symbol of salvation, in the core of performing Paschal mystery. In liturgy, the Holy Cross is the holy sign to meet Paschal mystery more vividly and for certain. Rite of the Holy Cross Adoration on Good Friday is the biggest place where reveals the symbolic meaning of the Holy Cross. This rite of the Holy Cross Exaltation originated from Jerusalem Triduum in the 4th century, and was the oldest liturgical element of Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. With historical discovering of the Holy Cross, and two churches (Martyrium and Anastasis dedicated in A.D. 335) built in Jerusalem shrine were the main motives to touch off rites of the Holy Cross and popular faith. The origin of Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross has close relationship to rite of the Holy Cross Exaltation held on the 2nd day of Encaenia (September 14th) in Martyrium church, Jerusalem. This study looks into the processing history; from the adoration rite of the Holy Cross which was the 2nd component of the rite in the 4th century developed and came to be fixed as the independent Feast day to commemorate the Holy Cross in the 7th century. And with overviewing the traditional Roman old mass prayers for Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, try to think over the meaning of commemoration and exaltation of the Holy Cross in liturgy.
