영문 초록

A web blog, a popular web-based service, is widely adopted in language learning classrooms due to its support for interactive communication. In general, a web blog is assumed to provide the authentic use of languages and effective and easy communications with others, which may assist language learning. This study examined the effects of web blog activities in English classes. In total, 60 college students participated in the study and were assigned to either the experimental group or the control group. The experimental group used a web blog to assist peer-peer and peer-teacher interactions. To examine the effects of the web blog, surveys on self-regulated learning and out-of-class learning activities, and a test of English achievement were conducted. The results of the study revealed that the experimental group showed better performance in locus of control and rehearsal strategies, out-of-class activities, and on the English achievement test than the control group. The study results were presented with implications for teaching and future research, and limitations of the study were noted.
