국문 초록

본 논문은 동성애에 관한 연구이며, 동성애에 관한 교회 가르침의 주안점이 동성애 행위와 경향의 개념정립에서, 동성애자에 대한 사목적 돌봄으로 옮겨가는 지점을 분석함으로써, 동성애자들과 그리스도교 신앙 공동체와의 상관관계를 고찰한다. 교회의 가르침에는 '이성애자(異性愛者)'와 '동성애자(同性愛者)'의 구분이 없고, 다만 남성과 여성이 그들의 성정체성(sexual identity)을 서로 존중하고 상호 보완적 관계를 받아 들여야 한다고 가르친다. 본고는 덕의 윤리학을 비판적 방법론으로 사용하고, 자기배려의 재귀적 개념을 통해 사목적 돌봄의 의미론적 확장을 시도한다. 그리스-로마 전통과 초기 그리스도교 전통에 따르면, 자기배려는 단순히 자기기술이나 자기관리의 문제가 아니라, 자기인식과 자기변형을 경험하려는 사람들의 영적훈련이었다. 본 논문이 윤리 신학자들의 비판적 관점들을 소개하지만, 본 연구의 목적은 동생애에 관한 교회의 가르침에 대한 도덕적 논의가 아니다. 신학적 논쟁 혹은 재해석은 논외다. 대신, 본 논문은 동성애자들을 향한 교회의 사목적 관심의 전환점을 제3차 임시총회 ｢의안집｣ (Instrumentum Laboris)과 제14차 정기총회 ｢의제개요｣(Lineamenta)의 사목적 질문들 안에서 발견한다. 비록 이 문헌들이 동성애자들에 관한 구체적인 방안을 제시하지 않지만, 본 논문은 이 문헌들의 사목적 질문을 살펴봄으로써 오늘날 사목자들에게 실천적 토대를 마련하고자 한다. 이를 통해, 본 논문은 덕의 윤리학 관점에서 자기배려의 덕이 어떻게 신앙 공동체와 동성애자들 모두를 위한 '사목적 돌봄'의 의미를 재고찰 하도록 초대하는지 보여주기를 희망한다.

영문 초록

This article is a study on the issues of homosexuality, and explores inter-relationship between homosexual persons and the Christian community by analyzing the locus from which magisterial teaching begins to change its major interest from the definiton of homosexual action and tendency to pastoral concern for the homosexual persons. Within the magisterial teaching of the Roman Catholic Church there is no distinction between heterosexual and homosexual persons, but only that men and women should accept their respective sexual identities each other and complemental relationships. This article uses virtue ethics as a critical methodology and tries to elaborate on the semantic extnesion of pastoral care through the recursive notion of self-care. According to the Greco-Roman and early Christian tradition, self-care is not simply a matter of self-technology or self-management, but spiritual exercises for the person to expereince self-awareness and self-transformation. Even though this article introduces the critical viewpoints of moral theologians, the purpose of this study is not a moral deabet on the church's teaching on the homosexuality. Theological arguments or reinterpretations are out of the qustion. Rather, this article finds examples of the turning point of the church's pastoral concerns towards homosexual persons in light of the pastoral qustions of Instrumentum Laboris and Lineamenta. Although these documents do not give concrete pastoral suggestions for the care of the homosexual persons, this article tries to provide a paractical framework for ministers today by exploring their pastoral questions. By doing this, this aticle hope to show how the virtue of self-care from a virtue ethics perspective invites us to re-consider the meaning of pastoral care for both the community of faith and the homosexual person.
