영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of listening strategy training on EFL learners during English lessons utilizing movie material. A survey was conducted on 62 pre-service elementary school teachers who took English classes that used the movie The Bridges of Madison County (1995). Twenty-seven listening strategies were developed under three major categories; 1) metacognitive strategies, 2) cognitive strategies, and 3) social/affective strategies. Students from an experimental group received listening strategy training through explicit instruction, whereas a control group did regular listening activities for the duration of the experiment. According to the results of the study, about half of the students reported that they had received some kind of listening strategy instruction before the experiment, and they saw the listening strategies as being beneficial as they participated in their English listening comprehension activities. The results of the study also showed that there was a significant effect of listening strategy training on EFL students’ listening proficiency in EFL classroom using movies. Several implications are discussed based on the findings of the study
