초등교사의 고용형태에 따른 교사의 질 관련 변인 차이 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 OECD 6개 국가에서 초등교사의 고용형태(전일제 또는 시간제 여부, 정규직 또는 비정규직 여부)에 따라 교사의 질(수업준비도, 구성주의 신념, 효능감, 협력도)에 차이가 있는지를 통계적으로 분석하였다. OECD가 2014년에 제공한 2013 교수ㆍ학습국제조사(Teaching and Learning International Survey: TALIS) 자료를 활용하여 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 비정규직 교사보다는 정규직 교사가 수업준비도, 구성주의 신념, 효능감과 협력도에 있어 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 시간제 교사보다는 전일제 교사가 구성주의 신념을 제외하고 수업준비도, 효능감과 협력도에 있어 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 전일제 정규직 교사는 기타 고용형태의 교사들에 비해 수업준비도와 효능감이 가장 높게 나타났다. 구성주의 신념과 협력도에 있어서는 전일제 정규직과 전일제 비정규직의 평균값이 시간제보다 높게 나타나 전일제 교사 여부가 교사의 신념과 협력도에 중요한 변수임을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to investigate the difference in teacher quality related variables according to the employment status. Using TALIS provided by OECD, this study statistically verified the difference in teacher quality related variables of elementary teachers in six different countries, depending on the employment status of these teachers (i.e. full-time vs. part-time, permanent vs. non-permanent). The findings of the study are as follows. First, full-time teachers demonstrated higher average scores than part-time teachers on teacher quality variables(constructivist beliefs, teacher efficacy, preparation, and collaboration). Secondly, permanent teachers had higher average scores than fixed term contract teachers on teacher efficiency, preparation, and collaboration, but not on constructivist beliefs. This difference was statistically significant. Third, full-time permanent teachers demonstrated higher average scores on all the teacher quality variables than teachers with other employment status and this difference was statistically significant. The implication of the current study is that policy makers should take into consideration the goals of education and unique characteristics of teaching profession when determining directions for teacher policies such as part-time employment.
