국문 초록

이 글은 지구화 시대에 한국고전여성문학 연구의 학문적 정체성과 이 분야 연구를 주도하는 학회의 역할을 비판적으로 성찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 2000년 한국고전여성문학회 창립 당시만 해도 선명해 보였던 '여성'주의의 기치는 오늘날 힘을 잃은 듯 보인다. 또한 신자유주의에 기반한 전지구화는 '한국'과 같은 민족국가 단위의 근대적 학문 패러다임을 근본적으로 흔들고 있으며, '고전/문학'을 비롯한 인문학을 점점 더 위기로 몰아가고 있다. 이 격변의 시대에 한국고전여성문학 연구가 '한국/고전/문학' 연구로서의 정체성에 안주하지 않고 '여성ㆍ젠더' 연구로서의 정체성을 학회 차원에서 보다 강화해야 한다는 것이 이 글의 요지다. 학회 창립 이후 15년 간 한국고전여성문학회는 지속적인 기획을 통해 '여성문학' 연구를 특성화함으로써 '한국고전문학' 분야에서 다른 학회들과의 차별화에 어느 정도 성공했다. 그러나 한국고전여성문학 연구는 이제까지보다 훨씬 더 '여성ㆍ젠더' 문제의식에 민감해져야 하며, '여성ㆍ젠더' 연구의 간학문적이고 다학문적인 특성을 최대한 살릴 수 있는 연구방법을 모색해야 한다. 지구화는 다양한 행위주체들의 선택과 노력에 따라 그 방향이 바뀌게 될 미완의 현실이다. 한국고전여성문학회도 학문세계를 구성하는 행위주체로서 바람직한 지구화에 기여하기 위해 새로운 도전이 필요하다. 첫째, '고전/여성' 연구의 현재적 의의와 방법에 대한 성찰을 학회 차원에서 담론화 함으로써 인문학의 소통성을 회복하기 위한 노력에 동참해야 한다. 둘째, '한국/고전/문학' 연구의 국제화를 학회 차원에서 적극적으로 기획하고 지원함으로써 학문세계의 평등한 지구화에 기여할 수 있어야 한다. 셋째, 학술지가 단순한 논문 모음집에 그치지 않고 '한국/고전/여성 /문학'을 매개로 비판적 인문정신을 실험하는 비평의 장으로 거듭날 수 있도록 학회 차원의 적극적인 기획과 노력이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This paper considers the identity of research on Korean Classical Women's Literature in this globalized era and critically examines the role of the Society of Korean Classical Woman's Literature which has led the research. The banner of 'feminism' has come to be raised with less enthusiasm since the days when the society was first established in 2000, while research paradigms which focus on the unit of the nation-state (such as 'Korea') are becoming fundamentally weakened in the face of globalization. In such an intellectual context, it is imperative that the research on Korean Classical Women's Literature looks beyond the themes of 'Korean', 'classical' and 'literature' and finds a new identity by focusing on research related to 'women' and 'gender'. It is stressed in this paper that the Society must play an active role in bringing about this change in research direction. In the 15 years since its establishment, the Society has been successful in encouraging research on 'Women's literature', thereby differentiating it from other research societies which deal with Korea classical literature. However, it can be argued that research needs to be even more attuned to the issues of 'women' and 'gender', with new attempts at inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research. Globalization is an ongoing process, forged through the choices and efforts of various actors. The Society of Korean Classical Woman's Literature can also engage actively in this process. Firstly, this can be done by generating discourse within the society on the meanings and methods of research on 'classical/woman', thereby contributing the restoration of communication in the humanities. Secondly, the Society must actively encourage the internationalization of research on 'Korean/ classical/literature', thereby contributing to a more equal 'globalization' of scholarship. Finally, the journal of the Society should go beyond being a mere collection of papers; it should be an arena of experimentation for humanities focused studies of a critical nature - this can only take place with the active efforts of the Society.
