국문 초록

다중이용시설은 아동실종 문제로부터 자유롭지 못하며 이로 인해 효율적인 시민대응을 필요로 하게 된다. 시민들은 아동실종을 예방하고 사건 발생 시 상호협력을 통한 조기 발견을 위해 다양한 개인적ㆍ집단적 활동들을 실천할 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 다중이용시설에서의 아동실종 문제에 주목하여 해당 문제를 예방하고 발생 시 조기 발견을 위한 협력치안활동에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대하여 실증 분석해 보았다. 협력치안 관련 이론적 논의와 함께 일반 시민들을 대상으로 한 설문조사 (N=770)를 통해 자료를 수집, 분석하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 차별적 협력치안활동 실태를 확인할 수 있었다. 다음으로, 아동실종을 예방하기 위한 개인 차원에서의 노력에 영향을 미치는 변수들은 아동실종 경험과 정부 신뢰인 것으로 나타났다. 아동실종 경험이 있는 경우와 정부를 신뢰하는 일반시민들은 아동실종 예방 노력을 보다 적극적으로 기울이고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로, 집단차원에서의 협력활동에 영향을 미치는 변수로는 성별, 학력, 공동체 의식 등으로 조사되었다. 구체적으로 남성이, 학력이 낮을수록, 아동실종 문제를 지역사회 문제로 인식하는 공동체 의식이 강할수록 문제해결을 위한 협력활동에 적극적이었다. 이 연구결과를 바탕으로 다중이용시설에서의 아동실종 관련 협력치안활동을 활성화하기 위한 방안들을 살펴보았다.

영문 초록

This study examined the factors related to participation in child-missing response activities in public facilities. After reviewing theoretical issues, cooperative policing in this study was conceptualized as citizen participation in policing without active partnership with the police. And cooperative policing was divided into two levels - namely, individual-level meaning activities like wearing name tag etc, and group-level as activities like active participation in looking for missing child. Three dimensions were selected as hypothetical factors influencing cooperative policing and they were demographic factors, community characteristics(child-missing experience, sense of community), and citizen trust in government including the police. Statistical analysis was implemented with 795 questionnaires out of 1,000. The results were as follow. 1) Individual demographic characteristics were identified as likely differential factors of participations in policing. 2) Factors identified as predictors of individual-level participation in policing were child-missing experience and trust in government. Having child-missing experience, and more trust in government can positively affect individual-level participation. 3) Gender, formal educational attainment, and sense of community were identified as predictors of group-level participation in policing. Volunteers were likely to be male and a relatively low level of educational attainment. And they were likely to demonstrate a favorable sense of community. According to this analysis, some measures for citizens to actively participate in child-missing response activities in public facilities were suggested.
