학교차원의 긍정적 행동지원이 특수학교 장애학생의 수업참여행동과 문제행동, 개별화교육목표 성취에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 학교 전체의 체제 개선 노력 속에서 교직원들이 팀을 이루어 보편적 지원과 개별지원을 결합한 학교차원의 긍정적 행동지원을 한 특수학교의 초등학교에서 실행한 후, 장애학생들의 행동과 개별화교육목표 성취에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 34명의 장애학생과 20명의 교직원이 5개월에 걸쳐 실시된 학교차원의 긍정적 행동지원에 참여하였다. 초등학교 전교생의 수업참여행동을 사전과 사후에 측정하여 두 종속표본 t 검정을 실시한 결과, 사전과 사후검사 간에 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며 보편적 지원과 개별 지원을 함께 받은 세 학생들의 수업참여행동이 증가하고 문제행동이 감소하였다. 또한 모든 학생이 교사의 기대 수준을 초과하여 개별화교육목표를 성취한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 학교차원의 긍정적 행동지원을 특수학교에서 적용하는 모델을 제시하였고, 긍정적인 행동변화와 개별화교육목표 성취를 통해 그 효과를 확인하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 추후에는 보다 다양한 환경에서 다양한 연령과 특성을 가진 학생들을 대상으로 학교의 상황과 특성에 맞게 학교차원의 긍정적 행동지원을 적용하기 위한 방안과 효과 검증 노력이 필요할 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of school-wide positive behavior support (SW PBS) at a special school, composed of universal support and individual support based on system change, on the behaviors and individualized education goal attainment of the students in the school. Thirty-four elementary students with disabilities and twenty school staff participated in this study. The SW PBS was implemented for 5 months. To prove the effects of the intervention on the behaviors of students, one-group pretest-posttest design was applied. The difference between pre-test and post-test was analyzed using two dependent samples t-test. The results of the study were as follows; First, SW PBS at a special school had positive effects on behaviors of students with disabilities. There was a significant difference in the academic engagement behavior of whole students between the pre-test and post-test. Universal support and individual support increased academic engagement behavior and decreased problem behavior of three students with disabilities. Second, individualized education goals of whole students with disabilities were accomplished beyond expectations on average. This study proposed a model of how to apply SW PBS to special schools and proved its effects on behavior and individual education goal attainment. There is a need to expand the application of SW PBS to more diverse participants and settings.
