규방가사와 근대성의 문제

국문 초록

이 글은 19세기 소설의 특징으로 성 표현 관습의 변모를 들고, 그 구체적인 양상과 의미를 살펴본 것이다. 18,19세기 문화의 두드러진 양상 중의 하나는 성적 표현이 비유작인 묘사방식을 벗어나 노골적이고 직접적으로 변모한 것을 들 수 있다. 이는 도시 유흥공간의 형성 및 민중문화의 전면화와 관련을 가질 것으로 보이는데, 18세기 사실시조와 판소리가 이러한 특징을 대표적으로 보여준다. 소설의 경우 성 표현 관습의 변모는 19세기 소설에 와서 두드러진다고 보이는데, 이 글에서는 19세기 소설에 나타난 성 표현의 양상을 백과전서식 설명, 회화화, 응시와 묘사, 성애 장면의 구체화 등으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 19세기에 들어 소설에 성 표현이 노골적이고 과감하게 이루어진 것은 성에 대한 인식이 변모한 원인도 있지만, 소설이 통속화되는 것과도 관련이 있을 것으로 보인다. 즉 성이 지식의 한 분야로 인정되어 설명되어야 할 대상이 되었으며, 또한 독자의 흥미를 끄는 요인으로 점점 직접적인 표현을 추구했던 것이다. 그 결과 소설의 주인공은 이제 비록 회화화의 대상이거나, 부정적 형상화의 대상으로 떠오르게 된다하더라도 관념적 인간에서 성적인 존재로서의 인간으로 다루어지고 있음을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study was prompted by the necessity that Kyubanggasa's in the 20's century should be justly appreciated in a current study. The research implications of Kyubanggasa's in the Twentieth century run as follows: First, it might be understood that the modernity had not an certainly desirable influence in the feudal women through the modernity and women's consciousness of Kyubanggasa's in the Twentieth century. Second, Choi-songsuldang expressed the feudal thought of loyalty and filial piety and the modrn educational consciousness, it should be noted that women's life still hold on to traditional attitude in the morals but independent and enlighterning attitude in the social activity. Third, Cho-yaeyoung expressed the consciousness of patriotism and enlightenment of 20's women, but it should be noted that a modernization dispirited women's life. The main issue of the 20's discourse of enlightenment is the modernity. Kyubanggasa's in the 20's century is also the product of a reciprocal action of modernization and tradition. Why I placed special emphasis on a historical approach to Kyubanggasa's in the 20's century in this paper is that modernity should be considered separately in esthetic aspect and conscious aspect.
