여가활동 참여가 수도권 거주 노인의 고독감, 여가만족, 생활만족에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 능동적인 여가활동 참여가 노인의 고독감 해소와 생활 만족에 기여 한다는 이론적 인과 모형을 검증하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 수도권에 거주하는 65세 이상 남,여 노인(남 : 82명 여 :105명) 187명이었으며 여가를 능동적으로 선용하고 있다고 추정되는 집단을 유의표집 방식으로 선별하여, 면접 방식을 통하여 여가 참여, 고독감, 생활 만족에 관련된 자료를 수집하였다. 본 연구의 조사 도구는 연구자에 의하여 5점 Likert 방식으로 수정 번안된 UCLA 고독감 척도 (10문항), Ragheb 와 Beard의 여가 만족 척도를 연구자가 번안한 척도(24문항), 여가 참여의 몰입 정도를 측정하기 위하여 Csilcszentmihalyi (1975)의 몰입론에 기초하여 구성한 여가 참여 몰입 척도 (3문항) 그리고 국어로 번안된 Diener의 생활만족척도 (5문항) 그리고 약간의 배경 변인 문항으로 구성된 면접용 설문지였다. 주요 결과는 노인의 생활 만족에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 변인은 여가 생활의 만족(β=.393) 이었으며, 가정생활 만족(β=.312), 고독감(β=-.291)의 해소 등이 그 뒤를 이었다. 이상의 결과는 Sneegas(1986), Riddick(1985a,b)의 연구 결과와 일치하고 있다. 고독감의 극복에 여가생활 만족도(β=-.316)가 가장 큰 효과가 있으며 가정생활 만족(β=-.172), 주관적 건강 만족(β=-.160)등이 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 여가생활 만족은 다양한 변인 들에 의해 영향을 받고 있는 바, 가장 큰 영향력을 주는 변인은 질적인 여가의 참여 정도(β=.458)이며 건강(β=.182), 가족관계(β=.179), 용돈의 양(β=.123)순이었으며, 이들 4변인은 여가생활 만족의 42% 정도를 설명해 주고 있다. 한편 질적인 여가 참여의 특성을 지닌 집단과 그렇지 못한 대조적 집단과의 생활만족도(F_₁. ₄₅=32.22, p=.000), 여가만족도(F_₁. ₄₅=71.90, p=.000), 고독감(F_₁. ₄₅)=18.91, p=.000)에 대한 비교 분석은 양 집단간의 유의한 차이가 있음을 보여 주었다. 그러므로, 본 연구는 몰입성과 자발성의 특징을 지닌 적극적 여가 참여가 노인기의 전반적 생활 만족에 중대한 영향력을 주고 있으며 이러한 여가 참여는 노후의 생활 만족의 부정적 요인인 고독감의 해소에도 긍정적인 효과가 있을 수 있다는 이론적 모형을 제시하였다. 끝으로, 성공적인 노화를 도모하기 위한 여가교육의 내실화 방안에 대하여 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Literature in gerontology and leisure in northern America as well as in Korea indicated that active involvement in leisure is one of the significant factor in later life satisfaction and loneliness needs to be overcome for the well-being of the older population. On the basis of previous research, this study tried to build a theoretical model regarding the relationship among active participation of the elderly in leisure, leisure satisfaction, loneliness and life satisfaction with other exogenous variables such as family relationship, health, and money use. The subjects of this study were 187 elderly who are 65 years old and over, living in Seoul metropolitan area (82 males & 105 females) and were selected by the purposive sampling and individually interviewed. Research instrument was consisted of 10 item revised UCLA loneliness scale (Cronbach alpha=.90), Ragheb and Beard's Leisure Satisfaction Scale(Cronbach alpha=.93), Diener's 5 item Satisfaction with Life Scale (Cronbach alpha=.86) and 3 item Leisure Participation Scale (Cronbach alpha=.88) with some background questions. The results showed that a substantial amount of the variation in life satisfaction among elderly adults may be accounted for through the combined direct and indirect effects of the designated variables(R²=.58). The data also substantiated the order of the variables and indicated that leisure satisfaction played the most important direct role in explaining the life satisfaction(β=.39)and family life satisfaction(β=.31 ) and feeling of loneliness(β=-.29) is followed. The data also showed that the degree of loneliness could be ameliorated by the leisure satisfaction(β=-.32 ) which has the characteristics of active leisure participation. An active leisure involvement group (high 33% percentile) obtained higher life satisfaction(F_₁. ₄₅=32.2, p=.000) and lower feeling of loneliness(F_₁. ₄₅=18.9, p=.000)than passive group(low 33% percentile). Within its limitations, this study provided a testable model depicting the causal relationships among leisure participation, loneliness, and life satisfaction and substantiated the role of leisure for the contemporary Korean elderly.
