국문 초록

본 연구는 농촌 단독가구 노인들의 자녀관계를 자녀들로부터 제공받고 있는 지원과 노인들이 지각하는 정서적 유대의 두 측면으로 나누어 살펴보고, 자녀관계의 내용에 영향을 미치는 관련변수를 탐색하는 목적에서 수행되었다. 자료는 제주도를 제외한 8개도에서 각 4개 마을을 선정하여 총 32개 마을에서 60세 이상 단독가구 노인들을 직접면접하여 수집하였다. 총 571명의 자료가 수집되었으며, 기술분석과 중회귀분석을 통하여 통계처리하였다. 분석결과, 기본인구학적 특성이나 분거자녀와의 관계에 있어 단독가구 노인들 사이에도 많은 차이가 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 상당수의 단독가구 노인들이 잦은 대면접촉, 전화연락을 통해 자녀와 상호작용하고 있었으며 다양한 유형의 지원을 받고있었다. 또한 단독가구 노인들은 자녀와의 관계를 비교적 양호하게 지각하고 있었다. 노인의 학력, 경제적 수준, 배우자 유무, 일상생활수행능력 및 연령이 자녀로부터 제공되는 지원정도와 관계의 질적 측면에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 자녀관련 특성으로는 자녀와의 접촉정도, 자녀로부터의 지원정도, 접촉자녀수, 접촉자녀의 출생순위, 거주거리 등이 영향을 미치는 변수로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the inter-generational relationships of the rural elderly who live apart from their children. The data were collected via face-to-face interview using the structured questionnaire. The respondents were the elderly 60 years of age or older and who live with a spouse only or who live alone in rural areas. The data of 571 eldely respondents were analysed. Descriptive statistics about the frequency of contact with children, amount of support given by children and the relationship quality perceived by the elderly respondents were presented. Multiple regression using the level of the support given by the children and the relationship quality perceived by the elderly as a dependent variables were conducted in order to explore the related factors. The results show that there exists great variability among the rural elderly respondents in terms of their socio-demographic characteristics and intergenerational relationships. In general, rural elderly receive various supports from their children, keep frequent contact with them and perceive their inter-generational relationship quality quite positively. It was shown that educational level, economic status, marital status, age and ADL of the elderly and frequency of contact, level of support, number of children and the proximity are the important factors which influence the intergenerational relationship.
