노부모와의 동거 스트레스와 대처행동 및 심리적 적응에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 노부모의 사회적 및 경제적 의존 정도에 따른 노부모와 동거하는 성인자녀의 동거 스트레스의 차이, 동거 스트레스와 대처행동 및 심리적 적응(우울감, 가정생활만족도)의 관계, 그리고 심리적 적응에 대한 관련변인들의 상대적 영향력을 분석하고자 하였다. 본 연구자료는 노부모와 동거하는 성인자녀 부부 132쌍으로부터 얻은 질문지를 기초로 하였다. 연구결과, 아내의 동거 스트레스와 심리적 적응은 노부모의 의존정도에 따라 차이가 있었으나 남편의 경우에는 유의한 차이가 없었고, 남편과 아내 모두 동거 스트레스가 우울감과는 정적 상관이 있었고 가정생활만족도와는 부적 상관이 있었다. 또한 중다회귀분석 결과, 아내의 심리적 적응을 예측하는 가장 강력한 변인은 동거 스트레스였으며, 남편의 우울감은 대처행동을 첨가함에 따라 그 설명력이 급증하였으며, 남편의 가정생활만족도를 예측하는 가장 강력한 변인은 동거 스트레스로 나타났다. 이는 노부모와 동거하는 성인자녀 부부를 대상으로 한 교육이나 상담의 초점이 조금 달라야 함을 시사하는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this research were to examine (1) the relationship of old parents' social and economic dependence on adult children with stress and psychological adjustment of adult children coresiding with their parents, and (2) the relative significance of effects of parents' dependence, adult children's stress and various coping behavior on psychological adjustment (depression and family life satisfaction). Data were collected from 132 marital couples coresiding with their parents in Seoul area. Results of this study showed that wives' stress and family life satisfaction were significantly different across social and economic dependence of old parents, while husbands' stress and psychological adjustment were not. It was also found that coresiding stress of both husbands and wives were positively correlated with depression and negatively with family life satisfaction. Results of multiple regression analyses indicated that coresiding stress and self-blame coping behavior significantly influenced wives' depression and that stress and coping behavior of passive avoidance influenced wives' family life satisfaction. In addition, husbands' depression was significantly affected by rational coping behavior, feeling expression, and passive avoidance coping behavior, while husbands' family life satisfaction was significantly influenced by coresiding stress. Finally, results of the study were discussed in terms of implications for family life education and counseling to adult children coresiding with their old parents.
