국문 초록

본 연구는 서울에 거주하는 178쌍의 남편이 은퇴한 부부를 대상으로 부부의 상호작용 특성과 결혼만족과의 관계를 밝히고자 하였다. 부부의 상호작용을 나타내는 3가지 영역인 베우자로부터의 정서적지지, 가사노동 분담정도, 의사결정의 분담도를 중심으로 다음과 같은 분석을 하였다. 첫째, 세 영역에서 남편과 부인의 지각을 비교하였으며 둘째, 세가지 영역과 결혼만족도와의 관계를 연구하였다. 결과를 보면 배우자로부터 받는 정서적 지지 정도와 의사결정 분담은 부부간 지각 차이가 없었다. 그러나 부인에 비해 남편이 자신의 가사노동참여제도를 높게 지각하며 남편의 결혼만족도가 높았다. 부인의 연령을 제외한 남편과 부인의 학력, 건강, 수입 등의 사회인구학적인 변인은 남편, 부인 모두의 결혼만족도에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 배우자로부터 받는 정서적 지지가 남편과 부인 모두의 결혼 만족도에 가장 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 배우자로부터의 정서적 지지는 남편보다 부인의 결혼만족도에 더 많은 영향을 미쳤다.

영문 초록

The marital relationship plays a crucial function in most aged couple's lives. The objective of the study, based on a survey conducted among 178 couples with retired husbands, living in Seoul, was to delineate the relationship between the conjugal relations and the marital satisfaction. In examining three aspects of marital relations; emotional support from spouse, involvement of household chores, and decision-making patterns, the study, first compared the perceived differences between husbands and wives in these areas and second evaluated their association with marital satisfaction. The research finding has indicated no gender differences in the perceptions of emotional support from spouse and of sharing decision-making with spouse; however, the hushands' perception of their own involvement in the household chores scored higher than those of wives. Education, health, income and length of marriage of the couples have shown no significant impact on the couples' marital satisfaction. Of those marital characteristics, the emotional support from one's spouse has been found to be the most important factor in the marital satisfaction for both husbands and wives. Furthermore, the effect of emotional support on the marital satisfaction was greater for wives than for husbands.
