강해설교는 종종 부정적으로 표현이 될 때 무미건조한 교훈들로 이루어진 설교라는 평가를 받게 된다. 하지만 현대 강해설교는 성경본문의 원저자의 의도를 무시하지 않으면서도 형이상학(고급 문학적 표현)적인 단어나 수사기법을 사용할 수 있다. 설교역사는 유능한 설교자들과 그의 설교기술을 담고 있는 귀중품을 보관하는 방과도 같다. 랜슬롯 앤드루즈(1555-1626)는 “설교스타”라는 별명을 들을 정도로 영향력 있는 설교자였다. 그는 엘리자배스 1세때부터 킹제임스 1세때까지 왕궁을 중심으로 설교사역을 감당하였다. 그의 형이상학(고급 문학적 표현)적인 설교스타일로, 랜슬롯 앤드루즈는 지적이고, 예술적이고, 또한 시각적으로 자신의 설교를 작성하고 전달하였다. 본 소논문에서는 랜슬롯 앤드루즈의 형이상학(고급 문학적 표현)적인 설교스타일이 풍부한 어휘와 수사학과 설교구성을 어떻게 효과적으로 실제설교에서 실현하는데 좋은 예라고 제안한다. 본 소논문에서는 랜슬롯 앤드루즈의 간약하게 삶을 소개한 후 그의 설교의 상황과 형이상학(고급 문학적 표현)적인 설교에 대하여 설명하려 한다. 그리고, 비평적인 평가와 함께 현대 성경적 설교에도 유효한 설교기술을 소개하려 한다.

영문 초록

Frequently, expository preaching is labeled negatively as dried exegetical lessons. Contemporary expository sermon, however, might employ metaphysical use of words and rhetoric without ignoring authorial intents in biblical texts. The history of preaching is a treasure storeroom that contains eminent preachers and their sermon arts. Lancelot Andrewes (1555-1626) is worthy of appealing designation, “Stella Praedicantium (Star of Preaching).” His preaching career started during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, and reached its heyday during that of King James I. Through a metaphysical sermon style, Andrewes attempted to create his sermon intellectually, artistically, and visually. This paper asserts that Andrewes’s Metaphysical Sermons are epitomized in the areas of how to utilize copious word expressions, rhetoric and sermon arrangement. This presentation will provide a brief biographical study and probe the homiletical context and metaphysical homiletics of Lancelot via critical assessments, and then it will spell out perennial peculiarities that contemporary biblical homiletics may employ.
