국문 초록

한국도 더 이상 단일민족으로 존립하기가 어렵게 되었다. 지구촌이 국제화 물결로 최근에는 인종과 문화의 변화를 요구 받기 때문이다. 따라서 교육기관들도 이 같은 추세에 반응할 수밖에 없다. 그러므로 기독교 교육가들도 시대적 변화에 따라서 보다 실제적이며 효과적인 국제교육을 시행하지 않으면 안 된다. 본 논문은 다양한 문화권에서 오는 유학생들에게 그들의 사고와 행동 그리고 생활에 있어서 적응을 모색할 수 있도록 교사들에게 새로운 교육을 제시하고자 한다. 특히 한국으로 유학 오는 타문화권 학생들에게 한국의 역사적 전통과 최근의 사회적 변화에 대하여 적응케 함으로써 언어와 문화를 초월한 소통을 이루고저 한다. 그러므로 소수의 유학생들을 상대하는 국제교육의 실제적 분석과 갱신을 통하여 교육의 성과를 높이려고 한다. 끝으로 이 논문은 다문화사회로 접근하고 있는 한국에 있어서 국제화 교육이 무난히 정착하며 신속히 발전되도록 하는 다문화교육의 이론과 기법들을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

South Korea, widely known as a homogenous country, has faced substantial changes in the racial and cultural composition of its society in recent years with the rise of globalization. Educational institutions are gradually becoming pluralistic. Thus, Christian educators need to be better aware of this reality and to be better equipped for this change. I argue that Christian educators need to undergo a change in their thinking, interaction, and practice toward students from other cultures to be interculturally transformed. In this paper, I introduce why intercultural communication competence is needed by considering recent changes and historical tragedies particular to South Korea. Then, I review and analyze educational reforms that considered minority group students. Last, I use theories of adaptation and acculturation to cultivate awareness and skills in intercultural communication for educators in South Korea.
