노년기의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 노년기의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 판별해내고 각 요인들의 상대적 영향력을 분석하고, 삶의 만족도 수준 차이를 검증함으로써 노년기의 삶의 만족도를 향상시킬 수 있는 사회복지실천 방안을 제시해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 비율적 층화표집방법에 의해 표집된 대전광역시의 65세 이상 노인 600명에 대하여 구조화된 설문지를 활용하여 면접조사를 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료는 SPSSWIN을 이용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 일반노인의 삶의 만족도에는 노인의 교육정도, 일상생활 동작능력, 경제활동 참여여부, 경제생활의 애로 정도, 주거편이도, 사회단체 활동 참여도, 친구수라는 7가지 변인이 노년기의 삶의 만족도에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 위험군 노인집단의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 일반노인들의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 변인과는 다른 변인들이 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 노인의 특성과 생활상황에 따른 삶의 만족도 수준 차이에 관한 가설검증 결과, 여성노인, 고령노인, 자녀별거노인, 질병이 있는 노인, 경제적 자립도가 낮고 경제활동에 참여하지 않는 노인, 여가 및 사회활동 참여도가 낮은 노인의 삶의 만족도가 상대적으로 낮았다. 이러한 연구결과를 근거로 하여 볼 때, 노인복지서비스의 1차적 대상은 삶의 만족도가 낮은 독신노인, 자녀별거 노인, 질병이 있는 노인, 빈곤노인 등 위험군 노인집단이 되어야 할 것이다. 이러한 정책적 우선순위 하에서 평생교육, 보건의료서비스, 사회복지서비스가 복합적으로 제공되어야 할 것이지만, 서비스 대상노인에 대한 정확한 사정을 근거로 하여 보다 전문화되고 특화된 서비스가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study was aimed at differentiating antecedent variables influencing the life satisfaction of the aged, comparing the differences in the level of the life satisfaction among different elderly groups and suggesting intervention strategies and service programmes improving it. The five hundred and eighty four persons of aged 65 and over selected using the proportional stratified sampling methods were interviewed by the trained social worker. The questionnaire used in this study was LSIZ(Life Satisfaction Index-Z) to measure the life satisfaction of the aged. Data were analyzed by using statistical techniques including t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression. The effects of variables related to health, income and labour force participation, and recreation and social activity were stronger than that of the characteristics of the elderly and their families. The variables which influenced on the life satisfaction of the vulnerable aged group were different from that of the non-risk aged group. The level of the life satisfaction of the female older person, the person of aged 80 and over, the elderly without family was lower than that of other elderly group. And the level of the life satisfaction of the aged who had no health or financial problems and participated in some social club was higher than that of the other aged. Based on the results, the various service programmes for the elderly, such as an adult education, service for supporting the daily living, income maintenance and employment support programmes, services of improvement of housing quality need to be developed and implemented.
