국문 초록

고령화 사회에 진입한 이후에 노인학대에 대한 문제의 심각성이 증가됨에 따라 많은 연구가 진행되고 있으나 노인을 둘러싸고 있는 다양한 학대 위험요인이 가해자로부터 받는 학대에 어떻게 대처하도록 하는지에 대한 연구가 심도 있게 다루어지지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 학대받는 노인의 학대 대처행동 결정요인을 파악하고자 하였다. 주요 연구결과를 살펴보면 첫째, 학대받는 노인의 정서적 의존은 소극적 대처행동에 정적인 영향을 미친 반면, 정신적 의존은 소극적 대처행동에 부적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 학대받는 노인의 음주정도는 적극적 대처행동과 공격적 대처행동에 정적인 영향을 보인 반면, 자녀의 음주정도는 소극적 대처행동에 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 가해자인 자녀와의 정서적 유대는 소극적 대처행동과 적극적 대처행동에 부적인 영향을 보인 반면, 학대받는 노인이 경험한 사회적 차별 정도는 적극적 대처행동과 공격적 대처행동에 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구에서는 연구결과를 토대로 하여 학대받는 노인을 위한 사회사업 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the determinants of coping behaviors for elder abuse. The respondents were restricted to elderly adults over 65 age of community residents that had experienced abuse from their child during the last 6 months. Questionnaires were used to collect data with respect to risk factors of elder abuse and coping behavior types(negative coping behavior, active coping behavior, offensive coping behavior). A structured questionnaires were used to one to one direct-interview a sample of 300 old persons in Jeju, Korea from Feb. 1 to March 20, 2005. Major results were summarized as follows: first, emotional dependency positively influenced negative coping behaviors, but mental dependency negatively influenced negative coping behaviors. Second, elderly's drink level positively influenced active coping behaviors and offensive coping behaviors. But, child's drink level positively influenced negative coping behaviors. Third, emotional solidarity with child negatively influenced negative coping behaviors and active coping behaviors. Fourth, perception of child's health status positively influenced offensive coping behaviors. Fifth, experienced social discrimination positively influenced active coping behaviors and offensive coping behaviors. This research suggests that understanding of the elderly and aging process, enhance to relationship with children, family environment resources and community-oriented protective system. These implications will be contribute to social work intervention for the elder abuse fields.
