국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국의 노인부부가구에서 치매를 앓는 부인을 돌보는 남편들의 수발경험의 의미와 본질을 밝힘으로써 그들 경험에 대한 보다 풍부한 이해를 하는 것이다. 연구방법은 대상자의 경험의 일반적 의미구조를 도출해내는 Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법을 사용하였다. 연구 참여자들은 한국의 치매노인부부가구에 거주하면서 고도(高度)의 알쯔하이머형 치매를 앓는 부인을 수발하는 남편들 중, 재가복지서비스를 이용하고 있으면서 언어적 의사소통이 가능한 자를 선정하였다. 자료수집기간은 2004년 11월부터 2005년 4월까지 이루어졌으며 연구 참여자는 총 5명이었다. 자료수집방법은 심층면담을 주로 사용하였다. 분석방법은 Giorgi가 제시한 4가지의 구체적 단계들에 의거하였으며 최종적으로 23개의 하위 구성요소와 7개의 구성요소를 도출하였다. 연구결과에서 도출된 경험의 구성요소들은 <치매에 대한 인식 부족으로 인한 뒤늦은 발견>, <무심했던 자신에 대한 회한>, <남편에서 수발자로의 역할 전환>, <문제행동의 출현으로 인한 육체적ㆍ정신적 위기 경험>, <자원을 통한 고통의 극복>, <수발에 대한 적응>, <변화와 성장 대 남아있는 위기> 등이다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 하여 남편들의 수발경험의 의미들을 한국의 독특한 사회문화적 맥락 속에서 논의하고 이론적ㆍ방법론적ㆍ실천적 측면에서 사회복지적 후속연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to fully understand the caregiving experience of the husbands by signifying the meaning and essence of their experience of caring for their spouses with Alzheimer in an elderly couple household. I chose Giorgi's phenomenological method, which is beneficial to derive the general structure of the subjects' lived experiences for my study. The subjects were selected from the husbands who were caring for their wives with Alzheimer in a serious level and those who took part in community welfare service. This research used the snowball sampling. Five men have participated in the interview. I have mainly depended on the In-Depth Interview. Analysis on the date depended on Girogi's suggestion of the four concrete steps for scientific phenomenology. The constituents a result of analysis are: , , , , , , . I have found out a structure of the husbands' caregiving experiences with the chronological descriptions of the dynamic relationship among the constituents. Then I have discussed the meaning of those experiences with regard to the social welfare. As a result of this, I present the social welfare implications and suggestions as follows: In the theoretical aspect, this study tries to offer a full understanding of husbands' caregiving experiences in an elderly couple household which has been rarely studied in korea. In the practical aspect, this study provides the useful resources and appropriate guidelines for social work intervention for each period of caregiving according to the process of alzheimer. This study also offers a kind of significant data in preparing social-welfare service and policy which would be appropriate for the context of caregivers, such as, position in the family, age, sex and the social contexts.
