숙수념 공간에서의 '틈'과 홍길주의 념(念)

국문 초록

홍길주의 『숙수념』에서의 공간은 통일된 체계 안에 질서 있게 배치되지 않으며, 특히 현실과의 유착 정도는 개별공간에 따라 유동적인 모습을 보이고 있는 것이 특징적이다. 이 이질적인 공간들 사이를 가르는 개념으로 '틈', '사이', '그림자'이라는 용어가 자주 등장한다. 이들 개념은 애초에 홍길주가 『숙수념』을 기획하고, 『숙수념』 내의 전체 공간을 운영하는 원리로서 역할 하기도 한다. 일상 공간의 경우, 현실적인 가치를 재현하고, 치인에의 욕망이 반영되는 공간이라고 한다면, 환상 공간의 경우는 일상의 규범이 해체되며, 홍길주의 사유가 형상화되어, 무한한 변주와 확장이 이루어지고 있는 것이 특징적이다. 일상과 비일상, 혹은 현실과 환상이라는 이질적인 공간들의 공존은 󰡔숙수념󰡕의 성격을 규정짓는 특징 중에 하나일 것이다. 이러한 상반된 성격의 두 공간은 한 세계 안에서 공존하면서 동시에 분절되어 또 다른 틈, 즉 경계를 보유하고 있는 것이다. 비록 명시하지는 않지만, 틈은 숙수념의 공간을 가로지르며 존재하며, 끊임없이 재생산되고 있다. 이러한 '틈' 개념에 드러난 홍길주의 사유는 숙수념의 '념(念)'의 성격과 긴밀한 관계를 맺고 있다. 남들은 인식하지 못하는 '틈'을 파악한 홍길주는, 진과 허와의 경계를 분명하게 긋지 않으며, 나아가 허가 진이 될 수 있는 가능성을 부정하고 있지 않는 것이다. 홍길주의 이러한 틈과, 진과 허에 대한 역설은, 19세기에 견고화되던 이데올로기 틈 사이에서 "새로운 가치를 생산해 내었으며 열린 세계관으로 향하는" 사유로 볼 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The space of Suk-Su-Nyeom, which is designed by Hong, Gil-Ju, is not arranged systemically. Basically, adhesion to the reality is very fluid according to the individual space. The concepts, so called "crack", "space", "shadow", which separate heterogeneous space are frequently appeared in Hong's thinking. These concepts, which are originally worked out by Hong, play an important role as the operating principle of the whole space of Suk-Su-Nyeom. While our daily life space is reflecting a fool's desire, in a fantasy, a norm is totally dismantled. In addition, Hong's thinking is figured as symbolic figures, and extended within that fantastic space. The most important factor that speculates the characteristic of Suk-Su-Nyeom is coexistence of disparate spaces such as between daily life and the counterpart concept, unusual life or between reality and fantasy. These totally different spaces not only exist together within one world called Suk-Su-Nyeom, but also respectively have its own borderline called crack. Even though Hong did not clearly stated, "crack" existed, crossing the space of Suk-Su-Nyeom, and being constantly reproduced itself. Hong's idea revealed through this concept that "crack" is closely related to the characteristic of ideas in the world of Suk-Su-Nyeom. Hong, who has recognized the concept of "crack", which has never been discovered by other ordinary people, does not try to draw a borderline between the reality and the fiction clearly. In addition, he suggests there's a possibility that a fiction could become a reality. Hong's new concept, "crack" and his emphasis on reality and fiction cracks the ideology solidified during the 19th century. Moreover, this kind of thought proceeds toward the new outlook on the world.
