영재와 일반학생의 학습 유형 및 비판적 사고력 비교

국문 초록

본 연구는 영재학생과 일반학생의 학습 유형과 비판적 사고력 기능 및 성향의 차이를 알아보고, 영재 유형(인문영재, 과학영재, 수학영재) 간의 학습 유형과 비판적 사고력의 기능 및 성향의 차이를 알아보는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위하여 충청남도의 B초등학교 일반학생43명, N초등학교와 B중학교수학영재 63명, Y초등학교와 D초등학교 과학영재 53명, 교육청 소속 S대학교 인문영재 교육원 인문영재 50명을 선정하여 8주에 걸쳐 검사를 진행하였다. 본 연구에서 사용한 학습 유형 검사지는 Kolb가 1999년에 새롭게 개작한 자기보고식 학습 유형 검사를 이신동(2005)이 번역한 자료를 바탕으로 원재권(2006)이 사용한 검사 도구이며, 비판적 사고력 검사는 비판적 사고 기능 검사와 비판적 사고 성향 검사로 이루어져 있다. 연구 결과에 의하면 첫째, 영재학생과 일반학생 간 학습 유형에 차이가 있었다. 일반학생은 조절적 학습자가 가장 높은 비율을 차지하였고, 영재학생은 수렴적 학습자가 가장 높은 비율을 나타냈다. 둘째, 인문영재와 과학ㆍ수학 영재 간의 학습 유형에는 차이가 있지만, 수학 영재와 과학 영재의 학습 유형은 유사함을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 영재학생과 일반학생은 비판적 사고력 기능과 성향에서 차이를 보였으며, 특히 비판적 사고력 기능의 하위 요소인 '어떤 진술에 숨겨진 의미와 가정 확인하기'와 성향의 하위요소인 '체계성'에서 유의미한 차이가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 영재 유형(인문영재, 과학영재, 수학영재) 간의 비판적 사고력 기능과 성향에는 차이가 보이지 않았다. 다섯째, 학습 유형에 따른 비판적 사고력 기능 및 성향에는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in learning style and critical thinking between gifted and non-gifted students. It addresses any inter-group differences between gifted and non-gifted students, as well as intra-group differences among gifted students. The subjects were as follows : 43 non-gifted students from B elementary school in Cheonan, Chungchengnam-do; 63 gifted students in mathematics from N elementary school and B middle school in Cheonan; 53 gifted students in science from Y elementary school in Cheonan and D elementary school in Daejeon; 50 gifted students in literature from the gifted education center of S University in Asan. For the learning style test in this study, Learning Style Inventory(LSI), which was originally developed by Kolb in 1976 and revised in 1999, was used. Critical thinking ability was measured as it was divided into critical thinking skills and critical thinking disposition. For critical thinking skills, the test developed by Jung-Hee Yu, Kyung-Hee Kim and Sang-Ho Park(2002) was used. For critical thinking disposition, the test by Korean Educational Development Institute was used. The analysis of the collected test responses was tested through a confidence analysis, technical statistics, frequency analysis and ANOVA, and Scheffe test was used for a follow-up test. The analytical results of the collected data are presented as follows: First, there were differences in types of learning style between gifted students and non-gifted students. It was shown that a large portion of gifted students were convergent learners, while non-gifted students were accommodative learners in general. Second, the gifted in literature and the gifted in mathematics and in science had different learning styles. On the other hand, there was no difference in learning style of the gifted in science and the gifted in mathematics. Third, there were significant differences in critical thinking skills and disposition between gifted students and non-gifted students. This was especially apparent from a subcategory of thinking skills, "Assuming the Hidden Meaning in a Statement," and a subcategory of disposition, "Systematization". Fourth, there was no signigicant difference in critical thinking skills and disposition among gifted students in each area of literature, science and mathematics. Finally, there was no distinct difference in critical thinking skills and disposition by learning style.
