근대 이후 지역 상황을 통해 보는 牙山의 3ㆍ1운동

국문 초록

이 연구는 1919년 3월 11일부터 4월 4일까지 전개되었던 아산지역 3ㆍ1운동의 성격을 규명하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 선행연구를 통해 시위 발생 현황, 참가자 명단 등은 대략적으로 밝혀졌으나 식민지 조선의 중심부에서 일어난 3ㆍ1운동이 아산의 어떠한 주객관적 조건과 결합해 적극적으로 조직화 되었는지 탐구하는 데까지 나아가지 못했다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 근대 이후 아산지역의 상황을 바탕으로 아산지역 3ㆍ1운동의 특징을 검토하고자 했다. 그 결과 이 연구에서는 2단계에 걸쳐 전개된 아산지역 3ㆍ1운동의 전개과정을 가능한 촘촘히 재현하는 가운데, 다음과 같은 점을 확인했다. 첫째, 근대 이후 일본인들이 아산지역에 침투한 제반 양상을 살펴, 강점을 전후해 일어난 경제적 수탈 및 행정제도의 급격한 변화가 아산지역 3ㆍ1운동의 직접적 배경이 되었음을 검토했다. 둘째, 전근대시기부터 중심지였던 온양, 영인, 신창을 구심으로 하는 세 권역이 3ㆍ1운동 과정에서도 각기 다른 활동을 보였고, 주도세력 또한 달랐다. 즉 아산지역 3ㆍ1운동은 하나의 운동이지만 각기 자기 고장의 역사성을 바탕으로 현실의 요구를 담으면서 전개되었음을 확인했다. 셋째, 아산지역 3ㆍ1운동에는 당시 아산이 상업지대로서의 성격이 부각되고 있던 상황에 발맞춰 초기적 형태의 노동자도 참여하고 있었다. 이는 아산지역 3ㆍ1운동이 농민의 참여에 국한되지 않고, 일제의 통치에 고통 받는 모든 계층이 함께 하는 운동으로 발전하고 있었음을 보여주는 사례라 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the nature of the Independence Movement in Asan that lasted from March 11, 1919 till April 4, 1919. Previous studies roughly revealed the protests that took place and the list of participants, but failed to explore what kind of subjective/objective conditions of Asan the Independence Movement of March 1st, which had occurred in the center of colonial Joseon, combined with before it was actively organized. Accordingly, this study tried to examine the characteristics of the 1919 Independence Movement in Asan based on the circumstances of modern Asan. As a result, this study confirmed the following while reenacting the 1919 Independence Movement in Asan, which took place in two stages, as tightly as possible. First, this study examined how the Japanese penetrated the Asan area in modern times, and found that the economic exploitation andKorea became the direct background of the 1919 Independence Movement of Asan. Second, the three regions with Onyang, Yeongin and Sinchang serving as the center respectively, which had been the hub cities since the premodern era, showed different activities during the 1919 Independence Movement, and had different leading groups respectively. In other words, this study confirmed that the 1919 Independence Movement of Asan was a single movement, but was unfolded reflecting different demands of reality based on their respective historicity. Third, in line with the fact that Asan was emerging as a commercial area, an early form of workers participated in the Independence Movement of Asan. This finding indicates that the Independence Movement of Asan was not limited to the participation of farmers, but was evolving into a movement in which people of every class, suffering from the Japanese colonial rule, took part in.
