노인의 교통사고 및 교통행동 특성 분석

국문 초록

평균수명의 연장 등으로 노인인구가 증가하고 노인의 사회활동이 많아짐에 따라 노인교통사고도 심각해지고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 노인교통사고의 실태 및 실제 교통상황에서의 노인의 교통행동을 분석하여 노인교통사고 감소에 기여하는데 있다. 분석 결과, 노인은 어린이, 성인 집단에 비해 교통사고로 인한 피해가 크고, 위험한 교통상황에서 법규준수, 위험감수성이 상대적으로 낮고 교통에 관한 지식도 거의 없어 교통상황에 잘 적응하지 못하고 있었고 이것은 노인교통사고와 많은 연관성을 가진다고 볼 수 있다. 노인교통사고를 줄이기 위해서는 노인에 대한 법규, 사고위험에 관한 교육 및 홍보와 아울러 노인의 신체적 특성을 고려한 운전자의 철저한 보행자보호의식, 속도제한, 신호주기조정 등의 법적, 환경적 대책이 시급하다.

영문 초록

The polulation of the elderly rapidly increases with the extention of the human life-span because of health improvement. At the same time, traffic accidents involving elderly road users also increase, which requires serious attention. The purpose of this study is to observe and analyse traffic behaviors and accidents of the elderly in order to find some practical ways to reduce their traffic accidents. The results are : The elderly show low levels of law-observance and less sensibility to imminent traffic dangers than the other age groups. Mast of them are ignorant of traffic law and self-protective traffic behaviors. onsequently, they feel difficult to adapt themselves to the traffic. These facts may substantially contribute to the increasing rate of traffic accidents involving the elderly. Traffic law-observance of elderly and their sensibility to possible traffic dangers can be improved through traffic education specified for them. Drivers should pay keen attention to the elderly pedestrians in addition to children for their protection. Legal and environmental countermeasures such as speed limits and traffic signal cycle need careful reevaluation with sincere consideration of mental and physical conditions of the elderly.
