국문 초록

황폐화되고 있는 중소도시의 문화 공간시장에 새로운 돌출구가 될 수 있는 계기를 멀티플렉스 영화관이 만들어 갈 수 있는지의 여부는 문화적 가치와 함께 사업체로서의 수익성과 시장성 등에 기초하는 사업타당성 또한 매우 중요한 의사결정 요인이라고 할 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 급변하는 시장상황 속에서 고성장을 거듭하고 있는 멀티플렉스 영화관의 사업성부문에 대한 연구 성과 또한 매우 미흡한 현실에 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 첫째, 최근 5년 사이 40%이상의 급속한 성장을 이루고 있는 국내영화시장의 배경과 국내영화산업의 장래를 점검하고, 둘째, 대중문화공간의 중심이 되고 있는 멀티플렉스에 대한 이론적 고찰과 연구를 통해서 멀티플렉스 영화관의 특성을 파악하고 SWOT분석을 통한 전략방안을 제시하며, 셋째, 전통적인 경영분석기법인 상호비교법과 추세분석법 등을 이용한 사례연구를 통해서 실증적 분석을 실시하여 국내 대표적 멀티플렉스기업들의 수익성을 검토하고 경영성과에 대한 문제점과 개선방안을 제시하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Along with cultural value, profitability and feasibility based on such factors as marketability are very significant factors in making decision on whether a multiplex cinema can create an opportunity providing a breakthrough for the ruining cultural space market of small cities. Yet little achievement has been made by profitability analysis of multiplex cinemas which have grown rapidly amid ever changing market conditions. The purpose of this study is as follows. First, examining the background of Korean film market enjoying over 40% growth for the past five years and the future of Korean film industry. Second, presenting strategic measures based on a consumer analysis and a SWOT analysis by identifying the characteristics of multiplex cinemas through a theoretical study and research on multiplex cinemas which have become the center of mass culture. Third, reviewing profitability of the leading Korean multiplex companies and presenting problems in management performance and remedies for the problems by making a positive analysis through case studies using traditional analysis methods such as comparative analysis and trend analysis.
