자율형 공ㆍ사립 고등학교의 성과 분석

국문 초록

본 연구에서는「학교 교육 실태 및 수준 분석 연구」의 고등학교 3, 4주기 자료를 이용하여 학력향상과 만족도 제고 측면에서 자율형 공ㆍ사립고등학교의 성과를 분석하였다. 다층분석 결과, 국어와 수학 성취도 모두 자사고 전환학교들이 전환이후 크게 향상된 것으로 나타났으며, 자공고 전환학교도 국어 성취도에 있어서는 전환이후 향상되어 일반고 수준을 회복한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 자사고와 자공고 모두 학생배경과 학생과정을 통제하면 일반고와의 차이가 감소하여, 선발효과가 있음을 시사한다. 학교 과정 변수로는 교사 열의와 수업분위기, 평가정보활용 등이 유의한 것으로 나타났으며, 자사고의 경우에는 학생배경 및 과정, 학교 배경 및 과정을 통제하여도 여전히 일반고와 큰 차이를 보여 이 연구에서 밝히지 못한 학교 효과가 남아있음을 시사한다. 학교만족도에 대한 다층분석 결과, 자사고 전환학교의 만족도가 가장 큰 폭으로 상승했고, 자공고는 약간 상승, 일반고는 약간 하락한 것으로 나타났다. 자공고는 학생배경, 자사고는 학생배경과 학생과정(성취도, 학교관계만족도, 학업만족도)을 통제하면 일반고와 유의한 차이가 사라져, 학생특성의 변화와 교사ㆍ교우와의 관계, 학교교육에 대한 만족도가 결정적인 차이를 낳은 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study analyses the outcomes of autonomous public and private high schools in terms of academic achievement and school satisfaction by using 'Actual status and qualities of school education in Korea' data. The results of multi-level analysis show that both Korean and math scores of students in autonomous private high school have improved dramatically. In case of autonomous public high school, Korean scores of students have improved to the similar level of general high schools. However, difference between general high school and both autonomous high schools decreases after controlling students backgrounds and students process variables, which suggests that there exists significant selection effect. For school-level process variables, teachers' enthusiasm, class atmosphere, use of evaluation information have significant effect on academic performance. However, school effects that this study fail to reveal still remains in case of autonomous private high schools. The results of multi-level analysis on school satisfaction show that students satisfaction in private autonomous school has risen most sharply. It also shows a little rise in public autonomous schools and a little drop in general high schools. The significant difference disappear after controlling students background in case of autonomous public high schools and students backgrounds and process variables in autonomous private high schools, which suggests that the change of students characteristics, satisfaction on teachers-students relationship and school education have critical effects.
