국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 대학 차원에서 이루어지는 학업지원 정도가 교수와 학생의 교류 및 대학생의 능동적 협동적 수업 참여를 매개로 하여 대학생의 학업 도전, 즉 자신의 학습에 투자한 시간과 노력의 정도에 영항을 미치는지를 확인하는데 있다. 전국에서 총 32개 대학을 선정하고, 동 대학의 재학생을 대상으로 웹기반 설문조사를 실시하였으며 최종 7,393명의 자료가 수집되어 분석에 활용되었다. 네 가지 요인 사이의 구조적 영향 관계를 탐색하기 위해 구조 방정식 모형을 적용하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 대학이 자신의 학업을 지원한다고 느낄수록 교수와의 상호작용 및 능동적 협동적 수업 참여는 보다 활발해졌다 또한 교수와 학생의 적극적인 상호작용은 대학생의 능동적 협동적 수업 참여와 적극적인 학업 도전에 영향을 미쳤고, 대학생의 능동적•협동적 수업 참여는 그들의 학업 도전에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 마지막으로 대학 차원의 학업 활동에 대한 지원은 교수와 학생 교류 및 대학생의 능동적 협동적 수업 참여를 매개로 대학생의 학업 도전에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구는 대학이 학부교육을 강화하고 대학생들의 적극적인 학습 활동을 유도하기 위해서는 교수의 참여와 협력이 중요하며 학생들의 수업 활동에 대한 지원을 보다 강화할 필요가 있음을 제언한다.

영문 초록

The goal of this study is to examine the structural relationships among students' engagement factors, known as a predictive factor for academic accomplishment in universities and work achievements after having graduated from universities. The research model includes a series of student engagement factors including academic challenge, supportive learning environments, student-faculty interaction, and active and collaborative learning. Particularly, the indicator variables of each factor are directly related to instructional tasks and activities experienced by students. We conducted an online survey of undergraduate students (N=7,393) enrolled in 2011 at 32 domestic universities within South Korea. Using structural equation modeling to test the fit of the model to the data. we found good fit indices for the research model. Results from the final model suggest that supportive campus environments directly impact student-faculty interaction, as well as active and collaborative learning factors. Administrative support for students' academic engagement indirectly impact student's preparation for courses and study loads through interaction with faculty, and active and collaborative learning during instruction. The current study suggests that faculty engagement and support for students' activities in class is critical to promote active involvement of students and to strengthen college education.
