한국 고지도 속 백두산 북동류 하천에 나타나는 북방영역에 관한 인식과 사회적 담론

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국의 고지도를 통해 백두산 동북부 하천 가운데 백두산으로부터 북류, 또는 북동류(이하 백두산 북동류)하는 쟁점이 되는 하천을 분석하고, 하천 표현에 나타나는 인식에 대해 고찰하는 것이다. 백두산 북동부 유로를 그린 고지도에는 당시의 북방영역에 관한 인식과 사회적 담론이 나타나 있는데, 조선 전기의 확대된 영토인식과 조선후기에 대두된 고토회복에 대한 강한 의식이 표출되어 나타나기도 하였다. 한편 백두산 북동부 유로 논의의 중심이 되는 두만강과 토문강이 동일한 강인지의 여부에 관해서 고지도를 통해 내릴 수 있는 결론은 이중하가 주장하는 토문강은 두만강과 동일한 강이 아니라는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze streams which flow from Baekdu Mountain to North or Northeast (Hereinafter, Baekdu Mountain's Northeast flowing streams) and discuss on the cognition of expressing streams through an old Korean map. On the old map which depicted flow path of Baekdu Mountain Northeast region, there are cognition and social discussion on the Northern territory at that time, in which intense consciousness on territory cognition expanded at the early period of Chosun and the recovery of old territory which was emerged at the late of Chosun were expressed. In the meantime, the finding from the old map whether Dooman river and Tomoon river are the same which is the center of discussion on the flow path of Baekdu Mountain Northeast region is that Lee, Joong Ha insisting Tomoon river is not Dooman river.
