교육사상(敎育思想)의 학문적 정체성

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 학문적 연구대상으로서 교육사상의 정체성에 대한 시론적 고찰이다. 이것은 한편으로 학문적 반성 없이 사용되고 있는 교육사상에 개념적 준거를 마련하기 위함이고, 다른 한편으로 교육사상이라는 개념이 기존 교육학 연구의 한계를 넘어 교육 현실 혹은 교육 현상에 대한 유의미한 분석의 틀이나 도구가 될 수 있는지 검토하기 위함이다. 교육사상은 생활 감정이나 느낌과 같은 무반성적 사고에서부터 고도로 추상적이고 논리적인 사고의 체계까지 포괄하는 범위가 중층적이고 다면적이다. 이처럼 교육사상에 대한 포괄적이고 다원적인 의미를 학문적 개념으로 사용할 경우 의미 있는 연구 결과를 산출하기 어렵다. 따라서 교육사상의 개념에 대한 전략적 정립을 시도할 필요가 있다. 교육사상은 교육적 삶에 대한 이해를 추구하되 당대인의 교육적 실감(實感)을 획득하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 교육사상은 교육적 사실에 대한 기초 연구로서 구체적인 특정 주제나 쟁점에 대해 깊고 넓게 연구한다. 따라서 교육사상에 대한 연구는 문제사 연구다. 또한 교육사상 연구는 교육적 사실에 대한 전면적 이해를 위해 분과의 경계를 넘어 공동연구를 요청한다. 교육사상 연구는 다양한 사회과학적 방법론을 수용함으로써 교육적 사실에 대한 이해를 심화할 필요가 있다. 교육사상은 제도적으로 대학원 과정에 개설함으로써 다양한 방법론에 숙달된 전문 연구자를 양성해야 한다.

영문 초록

This study is a introductory study of educational idea as academic target. The purpose of this paper, on the one hand, is to found conceptual criteria for educational idea that has been used without theoretical reflections, on the other, to examine, if the concept of educational idea would be a meaningful analytic frame of educational phenomena. Educational idea connotes so multilayered and omnifaceted meanings that they include non-reflective thinking like emotion and feeling to highly abstract and logical system of theory. It is very difficult to yield meaningful results with comprehensive and polysemantic concept like educational idea. Therefore, it is necessary to try a strategic setting of the meaning of educational idea. Educational idea pursues understanding of educational life. It aims at getting actual feeling of education of contemporaries. Educational idea is infrastructural basic research at educational facts. It throughly and widely studies specific concrete themes and issues. The study of educational idea is, as a result, one of a history of the problem of education. And for the across-the-board understanding of educational facts, the study of educational idea needs collaborative research project that goes beyond boundaries between specialities. The research of educational idea needs to accept the methodologies of social sciences to deepen understanding of educational facts. Through opening the course of educational idea in graduate school, one has to cultivate special researcher that are proficient in various methodologies.
