수학교과의 다문화교육 교수ㆍ학습 프로그램의 개발과 효과에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 다문화 시대를 맞이하여 수학시간에 학생들이 다문화적 인식과 태도를 기르기 위해서 문화의 다양성을 적절하게 반영하여 그들 문화의 독특한 문화적 정체성을 유지함과 동시에 다양한 계층과 민족의 문화를 이해하도록 하기 위해 필요한 내용을 반영하여 중학교 수학교과의 다문화교육 교수ㆍ학습 프로그램을 개발하여 교사들이 수학시간에 실질적으로 다문화 교육이 이루어질 수 있도록 돕는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서 선행연구 분석을 통한 문헌 연구를 실시한 뒤, ○○중학교 수학과 8명 교사를 대상으로 중학교 2학년 수학의 내용 중에 다문화 교육내용을 포함시킬 수학의 단원을 선정하였다. 중학교 2학년 수학의 내용에서 다문화교육 내용의 다양성, 정체성, 사회정의의 내용을 포함시켜 6차시의 수학교과의 다문화교육 교수ㆍ학습 프로그램을 개발하였다. 그리고 중학교 2학년 3개반 학생 121명을 대상으로 하여 중학교 수학교과의 다문화교육 프로그램을 적용하기 전과 후의 다문화에 대한 인식, 다문화에 대한 편견과 수학시간의 인식변화를 설문지를 통하여 조사한 후 집단별 인식의 차이를 통계적으로 검증하기 위하여 SPSS 12.0 패키지를 이용하여 t-test 를 실시하였는데 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중학교 수학과의 다문화교육 프로그램을 실시한 후 다문화 인식이 유의수준 99% 신뢰구간에서 통계적으로 유의미하게 높게 나타났으며, 중학교 수학과의 다문화교육 프로그랩은 다문화인식에 긍정적인 효과가 있음이 검증되었다. 둘째, 중학교 수학과의 다문화교육 프로그램을 실시한 후 다문화에 대한 편견이 유의수준 99% 신뢰구간에서 통계적으로 유의미하게 감소하게 나타냈으며, 중학교 수학과의 다문화교육 프로그램은 다문화에 대한 편견 감소에 긍정적인 효과가 있음이 검증되었다. 본 연구는 다문화교육을 중학교의 수학과 교육과정에 자연스럽게 포함시켰으며 중학생들이 소수문화의 다양성을 이해하고 다문화에 대한 편견을 극복하고 사회정의를 실현하려는 태도를 육성하게 만들었으므로 매우 의미가 있으며 현장의 수학교사들에게 실질적인 도움을 줄 것이다.

영문 초록

In celebration of the era of multicultures, the purpose of this study is to help teachers to substantially carry out multicultural education in order to foster students' cross-cultural awareness and attitudes, maintain their cultural unique identity, and help them to understand various classes and ethnic cultures. To accomplish this, after conducting literature study through analysis of previous research, the lesson of mathematics to include educational content of multicultures is selected, targeting at eight mathematics teachers in Pung-Mu middle school. In the curriculum of the middle school 2nd grade mathematics, the teaching-learning process which develops multicultural educational programs in 6th period's middle school mathematics is written by including the contents about multicultural diversity, identity, and social justice. And targeting at 121 2nd grade students in the middle school from 3 classes, before and after applying multicultural educational programs, awareness about and prejudice against multicultures and a change in students perceptions of the math classes were respectively surveyed by questionnaire. To statistically prove the difference of perception , t-test using SPSS 12.0 package was carried and the results were as follows. First, after conducting multicultural educational programs in the middle school mathematics, multicultural awareness has been indicated significantly high in the level of significance 99% confidence interval. It has been proven that multicultural educational programs in the middle school mathematics have a positive influence on multicultural perception. Secondly, after conducting multicultural education programs in the middle school math classes, the prejudice against multicultures has decreased significantly in the level of significance 99% confidence interval. And multicultural educational programs in the middle school mathematics have been proven to have a positive effect in reducing the prejudice against multicultures. This study naturally includes multicultural education in the curriculum of middle school mathematics and helps middle school students to understand the diversity of minority cultures and foster the attitude which realizes social justice and overcome prejudice against multicultures. Therefore, this study is very significant and gives effective aid to mathematics teachers in the field.
