체육수업의 정서적 구조와 특성 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 학생들이 정서현상을 경험하는 체육수업의 구조와 특성을 밝히고, 그 교육적 의미를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 질적 연구 전통의 하나인 사례연구방법을 사용하였다. 연구 참여자는 서울시 소재 중학교에 재학 중인 6명의 여학생이며, 관찰과 면담, 문헌자료를 통해 자료를 수집하고 분석ㆍ해석하였다. 연구 결과 학생들이 정서현상을 경험하는 체육수업의 구조와 특성은 다음과 같은 네 가지로 분류할 수 있었다. 첫째, 체육수업의 본질인 신체활동은 학생들의 생리적 변화를 유발하고, 이는 정서발생의 주요 원인이 된다. 둘째, 공간적 측면에서 체육수업은 열린 공간으로서의 운동장 - 타인의 시선 - 정서현상으로 이어지는 구조를 발견하였다. 셋째, 관계적 측면에서 체육수업은 팀스포츠 활동으로서 관계의 질과 복잡성 - 상호작용의 빈도와 강도 - 정서현상으로 이어지는 구조를 발견하였다. 넷째, 시간적 측면에서 체육수업은 주지교과 중심의 일상에서 일탈과 과제 수행 결과의 즉시 공개 - 평가적, 정저석 반응으로 이어지는 구조를 발견하였다. 연구결과의 시사점은 체육수업에서 학생들이 정서현상을 경험하는 구조와 특성을 이해함으로써, 체육수업에서 학생들이 경험하는 정서현상의 교육적 가치에 대한 논의에 중요한 시사점을 제공할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore students’ emotional structure and characteristics of physical education classes. To achieve this purpose, a traditional quality case study was used on six female student participants in middle school. Observational data, interviews, as well as literature were collected and analyzed. As a result, the structure and nature of physical education classes for students experiencing emotional phenomenon were categorized into four relationships. Firstly, the nature of physical activity experienced in physical education classes caused students to manifest physiological responses caused by emotional encounters. Secondly, that physical education class’s structure in terms of space linked the schoolyard as an open space - other’s eyes - emotional phenomenon was founded. Thirdly, the structure that a physical education class in term of human relationship was linked to the quality and complexity of relationship as a team sport activity - frequency and intensity of interaction - emotional phenomenon was founded. The final structure, looking at physical education classes in terms of time, was linked to the deviant behaviour from knowledge-based subjects and immediate exposure of a performance consequence - evaluative and emotional response was founded. The results of this study give us significant suggestions for discussions about the educational value of the emotional phenomenon students experience in physical education by understanding the structure and the nature of physical education classes.
