전북 동부지역 백제, 가야, 신라의 지역지배

국문 초록

자연지형적인 요소를 고려하여 전북 동부지역을 금강 수계의 장수·진안, 섬진강 수계의 남원 서부·임실, 남강 수계의 운봉고원으로 나누어 논의를 전개하였다. 이 지역은 5세기 이후 신라 통일 이전까지 백제, 가야, 신라로 국가적인 귀속이 진행되었으나 독자적인 문화를 가지고 있었다. 이 중에서 운봉고원과 장수지역은 대가야계 중대형 고총이 축조될 정도로 정치적으로 성장하고 있었다. 대가야권에 속한 소국으로 장수지역의 가야는 상기문, 운봉고원의 가야는 하기문으로 지칭되었다. 6세기 전반에 장수의 상기문과 남원 서부·임실의 중기문이 백제에 편입되었다. 웅진기에는 백제의 간접지배를 받았으나 사비기에는 백제의 郡縣으로 편제되어 직접지배를 받게 되었다. 이것은 척문리, 초촌리고분군의 무덤 구조와 척문리고분 출토의 銀製花形裝飾을 통해 알 수 있다. 6세기 중엽 대가야의 멸망 이후 신라세력이 이 지역으로 진출하였다. 이미 5세기 후반에 충북지역으로 진출한 신라는 6세기 중·후반에 금산지역과 남원 운봉고원으로 진출하여 백제와 국경을 접하게 되었다. 신라는 백제가 한강유역을 사이에 두고 고구려와 항쟁하는 사이에 이 지역으로 진출을 시도한 것이다. 이후 이 지역을 두고 신라와 백제는 일진일퇴를 거듭할 정도로 유동적인 상황이 전개되었다.

영문 초록

In the examination of this article, today's Eastern part of the Jeolla Buk-do province is divided into several parts, considering the landscape. Those regions include (1) Jangsu and Jin'an at the Geumgang river area, (2) Namweon's Seo'bu and Imshil areas at the Seomjin-gang river area, and (3) the Wunbong Plateau at the Nam-gang river area. This region, after the 5th century and before the unification of Shilla, became part of Baekje first, then Gaya, and then finally Shilla, but managed to retain its unique culture during all that time. Among these areas, the Wunbong Plateau and the Jangsu area went through a significant political growth especially in the late 5th century, as we can see from the construction of large and middle-sized ancient burial mounds in 'Dae-Gaya style.' As “Small states”(Soguk, 小國) in the Dae-Gaya area, the Gaya area in Jangsu was referred to as “Sang-Gimun”(“Upper Gimun”), while the Gaya area in the Wunbong Plateau was referred to as“Ha-Gi'mun”(“Lower Gimun”). In the early half of the 6th century, the Sang-Gi'mun area(the Jangsu area) and the“Jung-Gimun”(“Middle Gimun”) area inside today's Seo‘bu and Imshil of Namweon, were absorbed into Baekje. During Baekje dynasty's Wungjin period, these areas were only governed by the Baekje government indirectly, but during the Sabi period they were incorporated into Baekje's official local system as Gun/Hyeon/郡縣units and came to be ruled directly. We can see this from the foundation of the burial mound groups in Cheokmun-ri and Chochon-ri, and also from the flower-shaped silver ornaments(銀製花形裝飾) found inside the Chochon-ri burial mounds. In the mid-6th century, after Dae-Gaya fell, Shilla forces advanced into this region. Already in the latter half of the 5th century Shilla expanded its influence to cover today's Chungcheong Buk-do province. In the middle and later periods of the 6th century, Shilla forces entered the Geumsan area and the Namweon area's Wunbong Plateau, and came to share borders with Baekje. At the time, Baekje was caught up with its confrontation with Goguryeo, and was concentrating its attention upon the Han-gang river area, and in the meantime Shilla was able to establish its presence there.
