국문 초록

본 연구는 기존의 광개토태왕비 서체에 대한 논의들을 종합적으로 검토하고, 비의 書體가 형성되었던 시대를 전후한 書寫文化的배경을 살펴본 다음, 高句麗의 독특한 서체 양식으로서 ‘廣開土太王碑體’에 대한 필자의 견해를 개진해 본 것이다. 廣開土太王碑文字가 연구자 마다 상이하게 다양한 書體로 설명되는 것은 字形結構의 특징이 기존의 書體분류 방식으로는 적절하게 설명되기 어렵기 때문이다. 그러한 측면에서 字形특징과 함께 碑에 내포된 歷史文化的, 藝術的含意를 종합적으로 판단하여 書體를 命名하려는 시도는 廣開土太王碑의 서체 연구에 있어 중요한 의미를 지닌다고 할 수 있다. 廣開土太王碑의 字形結構의 형태적 측면에서는 대체로 古隸나 八分보다는 이들 개념을 포괄하는 ‘隸書’라 칭하는 것이 무난할 것으로 생각되지만, 碑의 문자에 내포된 예술성과 당시 고구려 사회에서 이 碑가 갖는 특수성을 고려한다면 그 서체는 ‘廣開土太王碑體’라고 부르는 것이 타당할 것이다. 그리고 광개토태왕체가 완성된 이후 고구려에서는 한 동안 이러한 유형의 서체들이 지속적으로 사용되어 고구려 서사문화의 고유한 특징을 형성하였다.

영문 초록

This study examined the existing arguments of handwriting style on great king Gwanggaeto's epitaph and the background of transcription culture before and after the age that the handwriting style of the epitaph was formed and then stated the researcher's opinion of 'handwriting style of great king Gwanggaeto's epitaph(廣開土太王碑體)' as the unique handwriting style of Goguryeo. Why characters of great king Gwanggaeto's epitaph were explained differently in various handwriting styles by researchers was because it was difficult to explain the features in the structure of characters with existing classification methods of handwriting styles properly. Therefore, it is considered that the attempt to judge historical, cultural and artistic implication in the epitaph with the features of handwriting types and classify them may have a significant meaning in researching the handwriting style of great king Gwanggaeto's epitaph. From the formative aspect of structure of characters on great king Gwanggaeto's epitaph, it is considered that it is easy to call it 'Yeseo(隸書)' which embraces all the concepts rather than 'Goye(古隸)' or 'Palbun(八分)', but in consideration of the artistry of epitaph characters and the specificity of this epitaph in Goguryeo society at that time, it will be valid that the handwriting style is called as 'handwriting style of Great King Gwanggaeto's Epitaph(廣開土太王碑體)'. And these handwriting styles had been continuously used in Goguryeo for a while since the handwriting style of great king Gwanggaeto's epitaph was completed and then it formed the unique features of transcription culture in Goguryeo.
