국문 초록

20세기에 물리학과 화학에서뿐만 아니라 생물학에 있어서도 패러다임의 전환이 있었다. 물리학과 화학에서는 상대성 이론과 양자 역학이 물질들의 메커니즘에 대한 설명을 발전시켰으며 자연에 대한 통제를 키워나갔다. 이는 과학적 방법이 더 이상 철학적 이론들에 의존하지 않았기 때문에 가능했던 것이다. 반면 진화의 개념은 생물학에서 시작되었으며 이 개념 없이 우리는 생명 혹은 생명체에 대해서 숙고할 수 없게 되었다. 하지만 물리학과 화학의 경우와 대조적으로, 진화론을 위시한 생물학적 문제는 목적론을 함축하며 이목적론은 형이상학의 문제라 할 수 있다. K. 포퍼와 H. 베르그송은 진화론과 관련된 그들만의 형이상학적 체계를 고려했던 철학자들이었다. 포퍼는 세 종류의 세계가 진화의 과정으로부터 창발되었다고 보면서 우리 지식의 객관성을 세우고자 노력하였으며, 베르그송은 지성이란 진화적 과정의 산물 중 하나라고 여겼다. 그 둘의 입장에는 차이가 있음에도 불구하고, 그들은 우주는 열려있으며 진화 과정은 그 자체의 목적을 위해 이 열려있음을 성취해왔다고 가정했다는 점에서 일치한다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

In the 20th century, there was changing paradigms not only in physics and chemistry but also in biology. In physics and chemistry, relative theory and quantum mechanics have been developing the explains for the mechanic of matters and have grown to control the nature. This was possible because the scientific methods don't depend on the philosophical theories any more. On the other side, the concept of evolution have been growing in biology and we cannot contemplate the life or the living without this concept. But in the contrast of the cases of physics and chemistry, biological problem with the evolution theory implies the teleology and this is the problem of metaphysic. K. R. Popper and H. Bergson were the philosophers who considered their own metaphysics in the relation of the evolution theory. Especially they explained the relationship between the epistemology and the evolution. Popper proposed the three kinds of world are emerged from the evolutionary process, and tried to insure the objectivity of our knowledges, and Bergson thought that the intelligence is a kind of products in the evolutionary process. Though the differences between them, they proposed the freedom is the most important concept since the universe has the openness and the evolutionary process has achieved this openness for its own aim.
