국문 초록

우리나라의 다문화가정은 특정 지역에 밀집지역을 형성하고 그들만의 문화와 생활을 지속시켜나가는 경향이 있다. 한국에 체류 중인 다문화 가정의 외국인 중 조선족은 가장 많은 수를 차지하며 역사적으로 한민족이라는 독특한 사회문화적 배경을 가진다. 하지만 조선족가정의 자녀에 대한 다문화 정책 및 교육지원 등에서는 종족적 특성이 배제되어 있다. 따라서 다문화 일반에 대한 연구와 함께 개별 종족집단에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 이러한 현실을 개선해야 한다는 필요성을 바탕으로 조선족가정 자녀에 대한 초등학생들의 인식 수준을 파악하고, 또래들의 인식 개선에 활용할 수 있는 교육적 시사점을 얻고자 한다. 조선족 밀집지역에 거주하는 일반 초등학생들은 조선족에 대한 인식 정도가 전반적으로 높다. 따라서, 다문화가정 밀집지역의 학생을 대상으로 한 교육과 그렇지 않은 지역의 학생에 대한 다문화 교육은 차별성이 있어야 할 것이다. 또한 일반 초등학생들이 조선족 자녀에 대해 긍정적 인식을 가지기 위해서는 다양성에 대한 태도를 높이는 것이 중요하다. 다문화 대상에 대한 직·간접적 경험보다 보편적인 요소인 다양성에 대해 긍정적인 태도를 형성하는 것이 호감정도와 수용태도에 무엇보다 효과적이기 때문이다.

영문 초록

Most of multicultural family in Korea have a tendancy to make densely populated areas and keep their ethnicity and traditions. The Korean Chinese holds the greatest proportion of the foreigners living in Korea, and historically have unique social and cultural backgrounds. However the multicultural policies and educational supports for the children from Korean Chinese families set aside their racial characteristics. To improve the effectiveness of those policies and supports, this study looks into the degree of elementary students' recognition on children from Korean Chinese families and finds out the educational implications that can be applied for improvement of recognition of their peers. The elementary students living in ethnic place for Korean Chinese are with higher degree of recognition on Korean Chinese. Therefore, the multicultural education for those students in ethnic place should have a differentiation from the multicultural education for those not living in ethnic place. Also, the attitude to diversity plays an important role in fostering positive recognition on Korean Chinese children in elementary students. It is because the positive attitude to diversity which is a general element is more likely to be effective on the degree of likeness and attitude of acceptance than any other direct and indirect experiences of multicultures.
