영문 초록

This article focuses on genealogies that record family lines of blood relations. Choson and Qing China, in particular, have formed strong blood relations centering on families and descent groups since the beginning of history. Specific relevant records have been kept over a long period of time. Given that genealogies are records of the times, this research compared the similarity and difference between the genealogical records in these two countries based on specific data.genealogies are records of individual descent groups’ blood relations, and thereby provide the possibility of creating false genealogies, few studies on this subject have been conducted. Genealogies, which served political and social functions of that time, provide ample political, social, and cultural information. They record much data relating to families, clans, and rural society thatare not found in state records. From the relocations of descent groups’ bases recorded in genealogies, many new facts can be inferred, such as the country’s upheavals following the movement of population, and the outbreak of regional epidemics. Also, recorded in genealogies is such data as the formation of and changes in political power through marriage. Now is the time that research on history should pay attention to individual personal data. In this respect, it is necessary to study family and descent group blood relationships, and shed new light on family systems, families’ ways of living, and changes in status. This article thus is based on comparison of understandings of social status in choson and Qing china as found in genealogical records. It conducted basic research into genealogies, and defined the historical value of genealogies in choson and Qing China. through studies of choson and Qing China. genealogies, it analyzed the compilation system of genealogies, and examined their legends, reviewing changes in social consciousness. in particular, Comparing the genealogies in the two countries, it defined differences and unique features. The findings disclosed that influenced by Qing China’s ritual norms, Korean genealogies from the Choson period are similar to Qing Chinese genealogies, but there are many differences in social status.
