영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to briefly introduce Korean Slips of the Tongue(SOTs) and discuss them. In this study, a total of 413 Korean SOTs are classified into five categories based on the linguistic components they represent: lexical, phonological, syntactic, pragmatic and propositional errors. Errors in each category are discussed further with respect to their directionality and forms. Though the size of the data was not large enough to determine all the characteristics of SOTs in Korean, there was enough to make several generalizations about Korean SOTs. According to the data, lexical errors are far more frequently found than the other types. Lexical errors mostly occur in the form of substitutions or blends, and the lexical substitutions or blends only occur within the same lexical category. Phonological errors generally occur within a single constituent, but never between different constituents, of syllable structure (onset, nucleus, or coda). Finally, I found that SOTs are not randomly produced but are the results of systematic errors which occurred in the process of speech planning and production.
