영국 빅토리아 여왕의 아동기 교육에 대한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 빅토리아 여왕의 아동기 교육에 관한 연구로 빅토리아 공주의 교육에 영향을 끼친 인물과 아동기 교육과정의 특징을 탐색하고 공주의 교육이 오늘날 교육에 주는 시사점에 대해 규명해보았다. 어린 시절부터 공주는 훌륭한 성품과 습관을 형성하고 예절바른 태도를 기를 수 있도록 교육을 받았다. 공주의 아동기 교육내용은 일반지식교육, 인성교육, 종교, 예술활동과 신체활동 등이 포함된 전인 교육적 요소를 두루 갖춘 내용이었다. 공주는 어린 시절부터 다양한 외국어를 배웠으며, 음악과 미술교육 그리고 공연 관람을 통해 예술적 감수성과 상상력을 키울 수 있었다. 공주는 역사교육을 철저하게 받았는데, 왕실의 역사를 통해 전통의식과 긍지, 책임감을 고취할 수 있었고, 역사교육을 통해 역사적 지식과 비판력을 키우고 국제 이해력을 증진할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 글로벌 환경 속에 경쟁력 있는 인재를 키워내기 위한 지식교육과 인성교육에 대한 필요성을 시사하고 있다.

영문 초록

This study deals with the childhood education of Queen Victoria, closely examining the people who influenced the princess’s education, her education curriculum and the content of royal education. The princess was subject to an education that allowed her to form a noble character, to acquire encouraging habits, and nurture gracious manners. In her early childhood, the princess lived by a regular life pattern, successfully balancing indoor and outdoor activities. The content of her education was designed to be an all-rounded one, consisting of a variety of subjects such as General knowledge, Humanism, Religion, Art and Physical education. The princess learnt a wide-range of foreign languages. Moreover, she was able to grow her imagination and sensitivity through attending diverse performances and by receiving education on Music and Art. Her education on history was incredibly extensive and the discovery of the history of the royal family inspired her to be proud and fulfilled her with a sense of tradition and responsibility. Furthermore, the history education allowed her to enhance her critical mind, and increase her understanding on international affairs. This study will examine both the superior aspects and problem of the education of Queen Victoria, and comment on what the Queen’s early childhood education suggests us in the modern era.
